Believe it or not, school went by pretty fast! Nothing really interesting happened in the first few weeks of school.

But, last week the teachers did announce a back to school dance!!
They passed out fliers announcing this upcoming school dance. I actually helped pass the papers out to everyone and hang them up all over the school building.

But anyways, tommorrow night was the back to school dance!

I was so excited! I loved all of the school dances; they were so much fun, honestly. I mean, who doesn't love spending a night with all of your best friends, dancing, eating food, and making new friends?

My group of besties: Ethan, Carrie, Scarlet, Liam, and I, all had one same class together. Fifth period study hall! It was so much fun being with them altogether.

"Hey, are you guys going to the dance tonight?" I started the conversation.

"Yeah!" Scarlet, Ethan, and Carrie all responded, excitedly, at the same time.

Liam stayed quiet for some reason.

"Are you going, Liam?" I asked.

"Nah, I don't think so... sorry."

"But why not?" I pleaded.

"I-I-I'm uhh busy..." he answered.

"Umm...okay I guess..." His answer was not convincing at all, but I let the conversation go. I'll talk to him next period, Biology, when it's just me and him, I thought.

In study hall, we didn't really study too much... but we did finish any homework we needed to do, talk as a group, and use our phones the whole time.

Ding! Ding! Ding!

Finally, the bell rang! Now I could talk to Liam and ask why he wasn't going to the dance.

We walked to Biology class together, and we sat next to each other.

"Alright Liam, what's wrong, why don't you wanna go to the dance? Come on it'll be fun!" I smiled.

"Nothing..." Liam thought.

"I know you too well. I know something's up." I responded. I mean he was like my best friend!

Liam sighed. "Okay, fine. I don't wanna go because... I can't dance."

"You can't dance?" Now that I thought about it, I've never seen Liam dance... at all.

"Yeah... but please don't tell anyone!" He looked at me.

"Of course I won't tell anyone." I paused.

What should I do? I really wanted him to go...

Biology class started, but I couldn't stop thinking of what I could do, so Liam could go to the dance.

I ripped out a small piece of paper from my compostition notebook. Using my purple pen (yes, I love colored pens), I wrote a note to Liam saying:

Hey, what if I come over your house after school today and I'll show you a little bit of how to dance? <3

I passed the note to Liam and he wrote back:

I'd love that.

I've been to his house plenty of times before. His parents love and trust me, just like my parents feel the same way about him. We smiled at each other and waited until the end of the day.

When it was finally dismissal, at the end of the school day, we met each other in front of the building. We waved at each other and then started walking together to his house. Throughtout the walk there, he was so funny and we both laughed so much.
We eventually got to his house, to the surprise that his parents weren't home... But okay. We ate a very healthy after school snack, otherwise known as... chocolate chip cookies, soda, and ice cream.

After about an hour later, we started our little dance practice in the living room. I was a member of the Varsity Dance Team, so I guess you could say I was pretty good... I don't mean to brag, haha.

Well, first we started with something simple: pop and hip hop music. Liam wasn't a horrible dancer, I don't know why he said that actually!

Then, we moved on to my favorite kind of dance, bachata. I loved bachata. That was bae.

We faced each other and he placed his arms around my waist. I held on to him with my arms resting on his shoulders. We danced, the simple two step, the spin, you know the routine. Well, we laughed and had so much fun!

"See, you're not a bad dancer!" I teased him.

"Haha, yeah I guess. Or maybe it's just because I'm with you." Liam smiled.

I felt my cheeks heating up as I looked down. Did he just... compliment me? And it didn't seem like one of those normal compliments... it felt different...
As I looked up, my eyes met his. Our hazel colored eyes stared at each other, making my heart falter, as he began to lean in. His lips touched mine, and yes, that was my first kiss, with my best friend that I've known my whole life. The passion was so intense that I felt out of breath.

As we slowly backed away from each other, I didn't know what to think or say, I stood there surprised... well that word doesn't really describe how I felt, it was more amazed and startled. But, oh my gosh, that felt so good.

"I'm sorry... I just got caught up in the moment." Liam looked down, embarassed.

"Haha, it's alright." I answered. What was I thinking? It's alright? That was a huge deal to me!

"I think I should be on my way, I guess." I mentioned, as the awkward silence was broken.

"Okay..." Liam hesitantly agreed. "But just to let you know, that was amazing."
