Angie's POV

I looked at my appearance in the full body mirror hanging on the back of the bathroom door. I knew my mom probably wouldn't appreciate my dark clothing and metal filled face.

I didn't really care about my clothes, seeing as I'd just thrown on a pair of ripped jeans and a band shirt. Doc Martens encased my small feet and a beanie was thrown over my messy hair.

My rented car sat in the parking lot. I climbed into it and started the radio, flipping it to a random rock station. Asking Alexandria played in the background.

I pulled into my mom's driveway fifteen minutes later. I knocked on her door, waiting for an answer. I wonder what she looks like, since I've never seen her; except in pictures.

A young girl opened the door. "Can I help you?"

"Is Marie Sylvia here?" I ask.

"Marie Johnson is here. Come in."

I followed the girl into a large living room. Two more kids sat on the floor, and my mother sat on the couch, watching the t.v.

"Mom, this lady is here to see you."

"Avalynn! What did I say about letting strangers into the hou-" Marie stops talking when she sees me. "Angelique?"

"Uh, yeah," I say, scratching the back of my neck awkwardly.

"Avalynn, take Johnnie and Kaylee upstairs for a bit. Angie and I have some catching up to do."

"I went off, got remarried, had kids, and now I'm here."

"And you just happened to forget about me," I murmured, sipping my tea.

"Hun, I was sixteen when I had you. I had Avalynn by the time you turned fifteen. I was going to come back and get you, but I was in a rough patch all the way up until Avalynn turned three."

"It doesn't matter now."

"What did Jason do to you?"

"The same thing that he did to you; the reason why you left. He beat me."

"I'm so sorry, if I would've known, I-"

"You couldn't have done anything," I cut her off.

"You got away from him, right?"

I nodded. "I'm in a band now, called Motionless in White. The guitarist, he has the bracelet."

She smiled. "That's wonderful. What's he like?"

"He's great, Marie. I really like him. And stupid me made the mistake of walking out on him when he asked me to be his."

"Oh, hun, I'm sure he'll understand."

"Thank you," I said quietly.

"Well, I know your siblings are probably dying to get to know you. Ever since I told them I had another baby girl, out exploring the world somewhere, they've been itching to see you."

"O-okay."

I'd never thought that I would have siblings, even half siblings. I was nervous to see them and get to know them. What if they didn't like me? Or what if I was to scary looking?

Marie called down the three children and they sat at the table, across from us. Avalynn was giving me suspicious looks, while Kaylee and Johnnie looked down shyly.

Avalynn was beautiful. She resembled my mother, meaning she resembled me as well. She had a short pixie cut, and her black hair was was tangled, but I could tell it was styled that way. She had green eyes just like me, and she wore light makeup and black clothing.

Kaylee and Johnnie looked like twins, almost. They had blonde hair and blue eyes. I'm guessing they looked more like whoever their dad was.

Avalynn blinked at me and sighed. "I'm Avalynn, but call me Lynn."

"I'm Angelique, but call me Angie." I tried giving her a welcoming smile, which probably looked very forced, and she looked away.

Kaylee giggled. "I'm Kaylee. I'm four." She held up four fingers proudly. "Are you my sister?"

"Uh, yeah, I am."

I waited for Johnnie to speak up, but he didn't. All he did was hold up three fingers, so I'm guessing he was three years old.

"Lynn, why don't you go show Angie your room? You guys seem kinda similar," Marie suggested.

She shrugged and motioned for me to follow her. When she opened her door, I saw almost a splitting image of my old room. Black walls, posters everywhere.

"Hey, that's my band," I said, pointing to her Motionless in White poster.

"No way!" She exclaimed, her mood suddenly changing. "They're my favorite band."

"I just joined, not long ago."

"I'm sorry if I came off rude. I was scared you'd hate me for being so goth."

"I know how you feel."

"You're a pretty cool big sister." She immideitly blushed and looked down. "If you even want me to call you that."

"It's okay. You can refer to me as that, or whatever else you want."

She smiled. "Thank you."

Lynn looked as if she finally felt accepted. I know my mom was probably against the gothic/alt. style, seeing as my dad was and her parents were. I felt good that I had her as a sister.

This is probably my favorite book that I've written.
