I smiled as I saw the sign that read Welcome to Maine. I was getting Lynn today. Ricky was hugging me tightly, trying to calm my shaking body.
We pulled onto the street Marie lived on and parked. All of the guys and I, minus our roadies and manager, began walking towards Marie's house.
Ricky said he wanted to meet my family; here we go.
I knocked on the door. Marie answered it and she smiled. "Hey, hun. Have you come for a visit?"
"Yes," I lied. She welcomed us into the house and Lynn ran downstairs, jumping towards me to give me a hug.
I observe her face and see a bruise around her eye. "How'd this happen?" I ask my mom.
"Oh, she fell," she replied solemnly.
"Into your husband's fist?"
Marie's mouth falls open, and then she says. "I suppose you're here to take her?"
I give her a curt nod. "Come on, Lynn. Let's go get your clothes."
We all walk upstairs, leaving Marie alone. She was a piece of shit, honestly. She didn't even try to stop me from taking Lynn.
"Wow," Chris says. "I like your room."
I'm sure Lynn didn't want to meet her favorite artists under these circumstances. She blushed and said, "thanks."
"There's me!" Balz exclaims, pointing to one of her MIW posters.
Lynn blushes even harder and moves to grab her bags. "Thanks for this."
Ricky nods. "No problem."
We gather all of Lynn's things and walk downstairs. Devin and Josh take her things out to the bus, while the rest of us face Marie.
"You can have her back if you divorce the man who hit her. If not, I'm getting full custody," I say. "I'll pay for you to send her things to my apartment. I'll text you details."
Marie's lip quivers and she looks to Lynn. "I'm sorry, hun. Just know that I love you. You're welcome back here anytime you want. Have fun with your sister."
Lynn nods. "Thanks. Let's go."
I wrap my arm around her shoulder and lead her out to the bus. She looked as if she was trying not to cry. I rubbed her arm reassuringly.
"Will Johnny and Kaylee be okay?" I ask.
She nods. "He doesn't hit his biological kids."
"If you were his kid, you wouldn't be as pretty as your sister," Ricky comments.
Lynn laughs. "Thanks."
"You know," I say to Lynn. "Ricky Horror is like your big brother. Let that sink in."
"Are you two dating?" She asks excitedly.
Ricky laughs and nod. "Yes ma'am."
She smiles. "This is definetly sounding better and better each second."
We sit down on the bus's couch. I introduce everyone to Lynn. She looked so terrified, until Chris came up to her a gave her a hug. Then she practically melted.
"Who wants Arbys?" AJ called up from the driver's seat.
"Me!" Everyone calls out together.
Devin looks to Lynn. "Can I do your makeup?"
She nods. "Sure."
Devin eagerly runs to the back of the bus to gather all of his makeup - which is a lot. It made me happy how all of the guys were trying to make her feel welcome. Ricky had even called her 'lil sis' once.
Devin begins to apply makeup to her face and I smile and how much fun she already looks like she's having. I'm happy we were able to save her from that environment. I never had anyone to rescue me from Jason.
My baby sister was now under my responsibility. Was I ready for this?
Yes, I was.
