💫Hachi I: Trouble in the Streets!
The squidbeak were still walking through the city, about two blocks away from their destination. Excitement was bubbling inside them, despite Verse's strange attitude. They couldn't wait to get back to Earth and tell everybody about how it went. That is, if it was a good show, and was actually worth it. Rider hoped to find some answers there.
The group stopped by a news stand on the end of their block, preparing to cross the road, but noticed the headlines on it, and the papers pinned or attached to it. All of them seemed to be about the princess. The inkling inside seemed to be scrolling on their phone, not noticing the group outside the booth. Not that it mattered though, since the group didn't need their help at the moment. They walked over to examine the papers, but all of them seemed to be the same thing with no new information.
Oddly enough, no name was given for the princess, like their real name or anything. Maybe it was classified information? The group didn't know. Was it suspicious? Rider took it as, but he was sure the others saw it as a misprint or forgotten information. Perhaps one of the citizens here could help?
Rider turned to Verse, who was leaning against the street light pole, watching them and waiting patiently. She didn't have a "hurry up" mood on her, but she did seem bored. He decided to walk over while the others examined the goods in the stall. Verse saw him approach and said nothing. Rider sighed as he leaned against the opposite side of the pole.
"Do you know the name of the princess?" he asked.
She seemed surprised by the question.
"I do know. It's princess Rigel, but I don't know her last name."
Rigel, huh. Strange. Rider was only hoping that Verse wasn't lying about her name. He went back over to the squidbeak and told them the new information.
"Rigel? Okay, so should we be asking citizens if they've seen her?" Hachi asked.
"I think they already know from all these posters..." Flip mumbled.
"Well yes, they know that, but the papers say her name anywhere. Maybe nobody's found her because of that, I'm sure SOMEONE here has to know a "Rigel" from somewhere!" Rider exclaimed.
"Ah, I see. True, we could do that, but...I don't know how that would turn out..." Hachi said.
"What do you mean?"
"Well, the queen wants the princess back, but we don't know if the queen is evil or not. If we start spreading around the Rigel stuff, word will get around this place, and probably get to the queen, who might then target us. We can't take chances and risk this, especially since we're in unfamiliar terrain in SPACE," Hachi explained.
Everyone else thought, taking in this information. Hachi was right, this mission was super risky. But they were stuck with the name alone in a huge city with no help, or help from citizens but with the queen possibly watching their every move and the risk of putting the princess in even more danger. The first option, despite being the slower one, was the one that put less people in danger. Less people in danger meant less trouble and less things to worry about. Unfortunately, the squidbeak would have to resume using their original plan.
"Yeah...you're unfortunately right" Emperor said.
"Guess that means we don't get help" Prince said quietly.
