Chapter 26:

"FEAR," The words whispered through my dreams. The booming mysterious voice got louder and louder every time it spoke. "FEAR," Louder and louder the voice got.

I stirred awake to see a Shadow across the canyon. "ANDY!" I screeched. We had slept in the canyon that night; it had gotten too dark, and we were both too drunk to drive.

"What is it?" Andy groaned. His lids lifted, and his bright blue orbs darted the crowd of Shadows. "Get up now we need to go." Andy growled standing up quickly I also jumped to my feet. He started the engine to the motorcycle before even getting on it.

As the crowd approached even closer-15 maybe 20 Shadows- Andy grabbed me on the back of a motorbike and sped off. It was no match for the Shadows. As we rode out of the canyon the Shadows vaporized, and we were in the clear, or so I thought.

"Are we in the clear?" I ask Andy as we rode onto the hot desert abyss. "Not even close; they're not giving up without a fight." Andy yelled loudly over the roar of the engine.

A tall Shadow stood in front of the motorbike, and Andy swerved and the bike tilt to the left and Andy and I skidded across the desert floor. I felt my face and arms bleeding. I wasn't as bad as Andy; he was bleeding even worse.

I pulled my blaster out of my boot and started shooting to the Shadow. It shot right through them. The Shadow hovered over us as I saw smoke from the bike erupt. Andy's bleeding hand reached out to mine.

My eyes had lifted slightly open to see Andy, and I passed out across from each other on the floor. Toppled by the debris of the collapsed building and boxes around us. All I could do was cough out ash. "A-Andy," I croaked out due to the amount of smoke in the air. I could barely see him anymore. Only his silhouette; I hovered my hand out to his. Andy grabbed and pulled me closer to his body.

Andy pulled off his gas mask, removed my mask, then placed his mask on my head. His face was covered in soot around the gas-mask line. "Adren." He coughed out. "No you need it." I tried to remove it, but he moved his bleeding hand out to the back of my head. He hovered over me. I had started to cry.

'Wait what was that?' I asked myself. That obviously wasn't current was it a memory? It looked like an old exploded building. Andy had half his head shaved unlike now with his long wavy jet black hair. That gas mask! That was my gasmask! Or at least the one we found in the old home where we found Crow and Femme and an odd red collar that Femme was wearing. The tag on the collar was faded, and all you could make out was: A... Property.

As Andy's hand squeezed mine, I realized that the Shadow was squeezing my arm. For an object without mass or volume he/she sure did have a hard grip.

I awoke in a beautiful room on a bed that was just as pretty. I lifted my throbbing head tapping Andy's arm to wake him. "Wh-where are we?" I choked out.

"Well, Adren I think we're about to meet my parents." Andy laughed as he sat up with me. I reached down for my blaster and pulled it out slowly. He placed his hand gesturing me to put it away.

"Aw, you're awake now." A woman smiled brightly as she entered the room. "Andy why don't you introduce me to the prophet of the Lord." The woman smiled widely. Wait, 'prophet of the Lord', everything was happening too quickly for my aching head. I noticed she looked similar to Andy, so I just assumed it was his mother.

"Prophet of the Lord?" Andy asked. "Aw yes, Andy you didn't realize you had the Prophet of the Lord wrapped around your finger?" The woman smiled. "Who's the Lord?" I asked.

She chuckled hard before catching her breath. "Aw yes, you do have the humor of your mother don't you." The ginger woman laughed as she sat on the corner of the bed. "I've never met her," I scoffed.
