~HYDRA! Steve and MCU Tony~
~Post-Civil War~
🔴 Deals with death! It wasn't one of the major warnings for the title but it does occur, so be warned! 🔴
~Summary, because otherwise it's a little confusing!!~
Five years, it took for Steve to regain the smallest of piece of himself, and that was when he was mid battle.
Scott Lang, leading the Underground Movement.
"What would Tony say if he saw you like this, Steve?!" Scott had cried.
That was all it took, for Steve to jar back to reality. The blonde pulled off what might have been the greatest heist in HYDRA history. He stole Strange's Sling Ring, and with the help of Wong (who had been in a neutral third party for years) he escaped the HYDRA universe.
But, most things don't stay buried, as he discovered the hard way. Steven Grant Rogers still housed HYDRA's murderous, cruel tendencies.
He couldn't help it.
All he wanted... was Tony.
He intended to get him, whatever means necessary.
~Part 1/? Of the Stony Stockholm Series~
Tony hadn't been happy in months. His chest ached constantly, and he would barely eat or sleep.
"Tony, man I know it's been rough but you gotta take care of yourself," Rhodey was deeply distressed at the state of his best friend.
"I'm fine." Tony says in a soft, broken voice, not looking up from whatever he was working on. Rhodey's face falls.
"You're not fine, Tony. When was the last time you ate something?" The smaller man doesn't answer, but his sickly face contorts with guilt. "Listen, I know you went through a lot with..."
"That's the understatement of the century, Rhodes," Tony interrupts, his voice dry and bitter. The other man sighs, frowning deeper.
"I know he hurt you, Tony. But you've gotta—"
"He didn't just hurt me," Tony finally looks up, and Rhodey winces when he sees how devastated Tony looks, his pale sickly face and dark ringed eyes. "He lied to me, and he left me. He knew, Rhodes, he fucking knew." Tony's voice trembles. "I'm not mad at Barnes," He finally says after a long silence. "Not anymore. I know he didn't have a choice. It's just like Barton back in New York." He looks away, setting his wrench down on the desk harder than he meant to, resulting in a loud clang. He flinches back slightly, before sighing. "But S... Rogers? He knew the truth and he didn't tell me to save his own ass." Tony scoffs, heartbrokenly. "I thought our relationship meant more to him than this. But he broke my heart." Tony's gaze slips over to the broken arc reactor setting on the desk, always in sight. "Literally. And figuratively." The small man rests his fists against the desk, leaning forwards, a long breath escaping him.
Rhodey looks at his friend silently, his face etched with pity. "Tony..." he begins quietly. Tony ignores him.
"But I don't hate him," His eyes trail up and away from the broken reactor. "No—for the life of me I can't hate him. Damn bastard let me fall for him and love him, and that didn't stop when he chose Barnes. Hell, didn't even stop when he slammed that shield through my chest. Because that's just it." Tony looks anywhere but at Rhodey. "I love him, Rhodes. And god—I miss him so bad it hurts. It kills me." He admits, weakly.
