“Miss Moline, can you tell me what you see here?” Nigel asked, running his thumb along a femur bone.

Moving closer to him and taking the bone from him, I looked at it under a magnifying glass.

“It looks like a greenstick fracture,” I told him. It was common enough, so I looked at him wondering why he asked.

“And that you are correct,” he replied, taking the bone back from me and placing it into a bin and sealing it.

            “Why did you ask?”

“No reason really. Just wanted to end your day with something easy. You can go home now.”

I laughed. “Trying to get rid of me now are we?”

“Yes, I have a date later, and I want to end this as quick as possible,” Nigel smiled, his cheeks slightly red.

“Uh huh, okay. I’m going. I’ll see you Monday Nigel,” I said, taking off my lab coat and grabbing my stuff.

            “Good day, Miss Moline.”

Not wanting to go home yet, I went back to the inside/outside picnic area of the museum. I sat by the pond, watching as different varieties of fish swam around aimlessly. It was such a beautiful place, yet I knew it was so confining for all the non-airborne species.  They didn’t know they were in such a small space. They didn’t know they had such a better place to be in.

            Still, it was beautiful.

Across the pond, I saw a boy and a girl arguing rather loudly. She was trying to size him up, but the way she was speaking, it would make anyone scared.

“You always do this! You act like I’m not here!” The girl screamed, her blonde hair a tangled mess around her face.

The guy just rolled his eyes and started to turn away, but the girl grabbed him, pulling him back to face her.

“What’s your problem? You’re always getting into my business. I just want to be left alone sometimes,” the guy responded loudly but calmer than the girl. His face was red, and his dark hair made it look brighter.

“Maybe I wouldn’t if you gave me a reason to trust you. You never tell me anything. What kind of relationship doesn’t have honesty?”

The guy looked her straight in the eye. “No relationship. We’re done.” And he turned away, this time, the girl didn’t stop him.

The girl started to cry. She dropped to the ground and sat there, people staring at her doing nothing.

I got up and walked around the pond and sat down on the ground next to her. I took out a handkerchief and handed it to her.

The girl lifted her head from her knees and looked at me before taking the handkerchief from me and wiping her eyes.

“Thanks,” she giggled a little, her blue eyes tinged red.

“I saw what happened,” I told her. She looked maybe seventeen.

“Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t want to be so loud, but I couldn’t handle it anymore,” she sniffled.
