The sound of light rain tapped against my window. I woke up, and got ready, washing my face and pulling on dark jeans and a green button up. I was tying my hair up in a bun when my laptop started to ring. Walking over, I saw that I was getting a Skype call from Lilly.
“Hey Lilly, what’s up?” I asked after accepting the call.
“Hi, Ate. Nothing. Just wanting to see how you were doing. You’ve been there over a week and you haven’t contacted us since your first day. We started to get worried.” She laughed.
“Oh, sorry. I’ve been preoccupied. Hey, so isn’t it like, three am over there?”
“Yeah, I couldn’t sleep. Oh! There was something I had to tell you,” she said, her grey eyes gleaming with excitement.
“What?” I asked.
“I’m moving out! I found an apartment near here and it was pretty cheap too. So I rented it and I’ve already started packing,” she smiled.
“Oh my gosh! That’s so amazing!” I was so excited for her. This was a huge step in her life, but I know that she could handle it.
“I know. Oh man. I’m so happy. Anyways, I just wanted to check up on you. Say hi to Alfie and the gang for me. Bye Ate.”
“Bye Lilly,” and we disconnected the call.
Since it was raining, I decided to call a cab. The driver got here pretty quickly and drove me to the museum. I paid him and ran into the building, not wanting to get soaked.
“Good morning Miss Moline,” Vincent greeted me.
“Good morning, Vincent,” I responded. “Are we going to string together the bones today?”
“Yes, we are. I’ve already started on it. Have you done this before? Not that I’m judging your abilities, but because I know you worked in forensics before. You didn’t really have to put the bones together like this.”
“I have, once actually. It was just as practice though, so I might need a small walkthrough before I actually get my hands on.”
“Well, okay. So…” Vincent explained to me the procedure. When I understood, I started to work at it with him guiding my every step. After several hours of tedious poking and assembling, we were finished.
“Amazing job, Miss Moline. Just amazing,” Vincent said, putting his hands on his hips and smiling.
“Thank you very much, Vincent.” I responded, impressed by my work as well.
“Well, that’s all really for today. Have you seen the rest of the museum?”
“No, I haven’t actually,” I said, wondering why I haven’t got to it.
“Well, you should. It’s quite brilliant.”
“I will. Yeah, I’ll go right now,” I said, smiling at him.
“Great. I’d go with you, but I have somewhere to be. Good job today. I’ll see you tomorrow,” he said before we went separate ways.
