Joe’s POV
“I’m going to bed. Good night,” Eva said, getting up.
“I’m coming with you,” I pushed myself up. We both walked away from the bonfire and back upstairs. We were both intoxicated, but not drunk.
Eva’s steps were uneven, and she nearly tripped. “Watch your step,” I told her, grabbing her arm and steadying her.
My mind was buzzing, but one thing was clear: I needed to tell Eva. I needed to tell her how I felt, and I needed to know what would happen between us.
We reached her hotel room where she opened it. She turned to face, and I placed my arms on either side of her.
“Eva, I waited for you,” I said, leaning down so I could whisper it in here ear. “I waited for so long, but you never came back. Why didn’t you come back?” My words were sudden, and it was what I wanted to say, but not how. But I guess it was time she heard it without filters.
“I did come back. I’m here now Joe,” she told me.
“You barely contacted me. You never wrote. I waited. You said you liked me, so why didn’t you come back?” I knew my words stung here, and I honestly didn’t care. MY emotions were to repressed, held in for too long to be stopped.
“Believe me Joe, I wanted to come back, but I just… I couldn’t yet,” she responded as she turned her head and I pulled back. I looked into her eyes, and she was looking at mine. Both were red and glossy, but I could see her as clear as day. I could always see her clearly.
I brought my hand up and moved away a stray hair, pushing it behind her ear. “You’re so beautiful, did you know that?” I asked her, leaning down and closing my eyes, wanting to relieve a lifelong ache.
Just as I was about to kiss her lips, she moved under my arms, slipped into her hotel room, and shut the door.
“Eva!” I pounded on the door. “Eva, why are you doing this?” my voice cracked, and so did my heart. Rejected, twice, and the same way too. I stopped banging on the door and turned around, ready to lock myself in my own room.
I was about to do so, when I heard Eva’s voice behind me. “Joe,” she said, before I turned around and she pulled me down by my neck, placing a kiss on my lips.
For a moment I was too shocked to move, but finally I put my arms around her waist, pulling her closer to me.
We moved into her room, not breaking the kiss. Before I shut the door, I placed the “Do Not Disturb” door hanger on the outside of the door. Eva wrapped herself tighter around me, and my body was pure static.
We pulled apart for awhile. We gasped for air, but I was impatient and I wanted more of her. I helped her pull off her sweater, then going back to kissing her. I trailed my lips down her neck before I got to wear her collar bones met her neck, and I sucked at it lightly, earning a moan from her.
Oh my gosh.
I raised my head and looked at her. I didn’t care about the moments that happened after this, I was going to say what I’ve always wanted to tell her.
“I love you, Eva. I always have.”
She just looked at me for a second before pulling me back and kissing me harder. I backed her up to her bed, and she helped me pull of my t-shirt. I pressed my body closer to her. Ours lip connected against when the hotel door opened.
