~~~ Chapter 38 ~~~ Aimee's POV
I trudged down the stairs, a small smile appearing on my face when I saw Calum and Michael standing in the entrance hall of my house with huge rucksacks on their back's and dressed in old clothes.
My stuff was piled in front of the door, ready to go and my parents were standing beside it, rolling their eyes as I took my time to descend from upstairs.
"Aimee, is it possible for you to ever be on time?" Said my mum, exasperated.
"Sorry," I laughed lightly, pulling my hair into a messy bun. I picked up my own huge rucksack, swinging it onto my back. "I'm really not looking forward to this."
I was talking about the school camping trip we were going on. The geography department thought it would be fun to take us to the east coast rain forest near Brisbane.
We would learn to survive with wild animals, deadly insects and snakes and of course, team build. Fun.
"Oh come on it'll be great!" Beamed my dad.
"Have you guys got insect repellent on?" My mum fussed over Calum and Michael.
"Yup trust me my mum made sure that I had at least two coats all over me." Michael scratched his arm. "This stuff is damn itchy."
I glanced at the hallway clock. "We better get to school. The coach leaves soon."
"Okay," nodded Calum. "Thanks for offering to drive us to school Mr Parker."
My dad nodded and walked to the car. I quickly hugged my mum goodbye and then gathered all my things, throwing them in the boot of the car.
The coach was loud, hot and excited.
I don't see why everyone was looking forward to being stuck in the jungle for five days. It was gonna be hell.
Michael was sat next to me, playing a video game, and Calum was sat opposite him as we luckily managed to claim one of the table seats.
Zara was also sitting with us, facing me and listening to some music. She was definitely a friend of mine.
None of us had really spoken of the Prom after that awful weekend. We'd just got on with it.
I'd been pretty depressed for the first few days of school and not spoken to anyone, but my friends were always trying to cheer me up. I guess I'd learned to use the glamour: on the outside I was fine, but on the inside I was the wreck of a ruined soul.
I leaned my forehead against the window of the coach and watched the green trees whizz past me, zoning out of the noise of the loud teenagers shouting and singing along to the radio.
I looked at my phone, quickly deleting the new messages from Ashton before I had a chance to read them. I was worried I would forgive him- which I would not do.
Calum caught my eye when I glanced over at him and he smiled, his dark eyes crinkling. My heart warmed.
Wait what?
I shook it off and returned my gaze back to the outside of the coach.
Luke's POV
I sat at the back of the bus next to a few dudes who seemed pretty cool around me. They were all shouting and yelling but I was just sitting quietly, staring out the window.
Last week had been horrible. I'd had a few days off school, telling my parents I was ill but really I just couldn't face anyone, especially not Aimee, after Saturday night.
