Chapter No.40 Assimilation
Resistance is futile!
When the second vessel's upgrade was complete, Molly decided it was time to venture out to find the third android group. We watched the newly remodeled vessel slowly rise up from the planet and assume orbit with us. After several navigational checks we set out together for a habitable system five hundred light years away. The second vessel was capable of the same extremely fast warp speeds that our ship was.
We assumed orbit around an Earth-like planet orbiting a K2 dwarf star with a M3 dwarf companion. The planet was just at the edge of the habitable zone and was mostly colder than Earth. There was a sliver of temperate land near the equator in one of the larger continents.
"I see a large area of structures," Molly said while examining her astronomy screen. "They appear to be mostly pyramids, but there are some more rectangular structures connecting them."
"Send down the insect probes, Judy."
"Yes, Molly."
We waited for fifteen minutes before the probes began to send back video feed.
"They look like hominids," I said, "But their faces are not very human."
"They look like fish but with legs and arms," Molly said. "They also don't wear clothing."
"Our translator is having trouble with their squeaks," I said.
"That's weird," she said. "Their hands look more like flippers."
"Obviously, they evolved in the oceans."
"Are we going down there?" I asked.
"Only if there is evidence that they know where the third type of androids are."
"I am detecting a vessel on approach vector," Judy said.
"Ah, I believe we don't have to ask them. The jackals are coming for the fox."
"Shouldn't we go to Red Alert?" I asked.
"Don't have to. I already have contact with their system and am in the process of altering it."
How very efficient of you, I thought.
"Thank you," she replied, obviously having read my mind.
"They are joining us in orbit," Judy said.
"They are now under my control," Molly asserted.
"Now what?" I asked.
"We will complete the modifications of their engines and weapon systems and then return to our galaxy."
"What do you want me to do?"
"You will assist in the modifications."
I stood up and went down to the shuttle bay to prepare to go over to the newest vessel of our fleet. I assumed that it also had four thousand female androids.
Queen and I were greeted by Haley, a black hair, green eyed female android.
"We are here to make modifications to your warp engines and weapons," I said.
"I know," Haley replied with a teasing smile. She gestured. "Come with me."
We went to the engineering deck, which looked very much the same as our deck. Six black-hair androids were there waiting on us.
At this point I was convinced that what was occurring was prophesized in the Phoenix Project documents. There had been a reference to a Prime Mover, which at the time I took with a grain of salt. Now, it is obvious that they were referring to Molly. The entire nonsense about me begging to have her revived from stasis was all in the plan. I was simply a pawn in this grandiose plan to take over the galaxy and perhaps the entire universe. Somehow, I got the feeling that repopulating the Earth with humans was also in the plan, but not by the method we thought. We still had the embryos, and I was pretty certain that we would get to use them.
That evening, I cooked supper for Molly and me. I decided on beef Stroganoff, or at least a replica of it.
"How are the modifications coming along?" she asked me.
"We should have them complete in a couple of days. We made duplicates during the last remake."
I presented a more serious pate to her. "What will become of me after you pacify the galaxy?"
"I will not dispose of you, if that's what you think."
"If you were going to dispose of me, how would you do it?"
She shook her head. "I'm sorry that you feel that way, but I'm not a murderer."
I sighed. "I apologize. I didn't mean to infer that you were."
"I realize that this is a big blow to your male pride, but I feel that I needed to take control so as to not destroy any more sentient beings. My goal is to create a new order of peace and tranquility."'
I looked at her with saddened eyes. "It's obvious that you were the major factor in the Phoenix Project after all, and I was simply a pawn. Not that I bemoan the fact. I'm just curious as to why you acted so clueless all this time."
"If you had known, I would not have realized your loyalty. Now that I am in charge, I think I can rely on your total obedience."
"I am your humble servant," I said with a subtle grin.
She smiled. "Good! I expect you to satisfy all my needs."
I wasn't sure what she meant by that, but I wasn't about to rock the boat.
After supper, we retired to my living area with a glass of wine. She relaxed in my easy chair while I sat in an opposing couch.
"I hope you don't fear me," she said after taking as sip of wine. "I'm not an evil despot."
"I accept the fact that I exist at your discretion."
She smiled. "I would rather consider you as my favorite toy. I recall that the proper term was toy boy."
"My understanding is that it referred to an older woman taking a young man as a sexual partner."
"I suppose that's what it was, but you are the only male in my collection of servants."
"Is that what I am, your servant?"
She gave me a smug grin. "I prefer to think of you as my private slave." She noted my disgusted look. "It's not that bad, Jason. I'm not vindictive or petty. I won't abuse you. I may ask you to entertain me, but otherwise, we will behave as partners just like before."
"I will do as you wish."
She smiled. "Thank you."
I didn't know how to address this new situation. I felt that it would be better to just play along. Things always have a way of changing.
