Chapter No.156. Battle Royal
A force to reckon with.
When we came out of warp near the red dwarf star system in which we had chosen to build a Dyson sphere, we were pleasantly surprised.
"Good heavens!" I exclaimed. "They've got all of the girders in place and have started covering them."
"I see there's a new spherical vessel like ours," Marie said.
"Yes, I'm surprised that they brought it here."
"I think it's because the Dyson sphere construction needs more hands," Molly said.
"What exactly are we going to do with this Dyson sphere?" Alexa asked me, her eyes signaling that she was not happy with it.
"This will be our home base after we've rescued all of Tyco's androids. This sphere will easily accommodate several hundred billion androids."
"I thought that we were going to build spherical ships to house them."
"We will build as many ships as we can, but I'm afraid that the bastard has created more androids than the grains of sand in all the beaches on Earth."
She squinted at me. "What makes you think that?"
"I sense it in the quantum fields that stretch out everywhere. I believe that we are headed towards a final conflict that will be a battle to determine who will control this infinite army of androids."
"In other words, this final battle will determine the fate of the multiverse," Alexa said.
"Essentially, but it could be a more prolonged conflict."
"It already has been that."
"I've found another habitable planetary system that's only twenty light years from our present location," Molly said.
"Take us there, Judy." I turned to Alexa. "We have to check it out. It could be a Tyco base."
She nodded her approval.
When we arrived at the system, it was obvious that it was definitely a habitable planet. It had a beautiful blue atmosphere with clouds.
"This planet is ninety percent the size of Earth and has three moons, the largest is only half the size of Earth's moon."
"The yellow dwarf star is much like ours," I said. "Is this system in the registry?"
"I can't find it," Molly said.
"This system is directly behind an O-class star that's ten thousand times the luminosity of this star. It would have blocked visual observation from Earth."
"It makes you wonder how many other habitable systems are not in the registry."
"It's probably in the billions."
I sighed. "Any one of which could be a Tyco base."
"What about the reptilians?" Alex asked. "Didn't they explore this region of the galaxy?"
"They were only interested in habitable planets that had food stock," I said.
"There are no structures on this planet," Margaret said. "Most of the land masses are covered with plant life."
"There are no electromagnetic signals originating from the planet," Alicia said. "I'm not detecting any evidence of collimated light beams."
"I'm detecting infrared signals that are consistent with android life," Marie said.
"Keep us in stealth mode, Judy and at a safe orbital distance." I turned to Marie. "What is the origin of those signals?"
"It's coming from under the ground near that larger mountain," she said, placing a digital lasso around the location on the main screen image.
I turned to Alexa. "Let's assume this is a Tyco trick. Should we expect an antimatter device or is Tyco in the mix?"
She gave me a subtle smirk. "I think that he's ready for a battle."
I squinted. "Really?"
"Yes. I sense that he's waiting for you and me."
I stood up. "Let's get ready to rumble."
She stood up. "Let's do it."
I turned to the others. "Hold the fort. If we don't survive get out of here."
Alexa and I teleported to the surface. We were standing together near the mountain, but we were alone.
"Where the hell is he?" Alexa hissed.
"I'm sure we'll see him soon," I said looking around.
"Looks like the bastard is not alone," Alexa said through gritted teeth.
We watched three figures dressed in silver body suits approach. Two were females and one was a male. They each held what I recognized as a light sabre.
Alexa and I each made a light sabre appear in our hand. As if orchestrated, the two females split off from the male so that they faced Alexa. The male was left to face me.
No words were exchanged. The male ran up to me and activated his weapon. I did the same. He took a swing and I blocked it. The two red beams clashed with blasts of gamma rays. He tried to sweep a horizontal blow, but I jumped up to avoid it while swinging my weapon's beam down. He blocked it. I tried the same move on him with the same result. He rushed at me swinging, and I blocked his blows. Back and forth we went, trying to gain an advantage, but it was a draw.
Alexa was battling two adversaries with rapid strikes and jukes to avoid their weapon blows. I, on the other hand only had one warrior to deal with. In a furious fusillade of blows, I took an energy beam swipe down the left side of my face, severing my ear. But before my adversary could bring his weapon's beam back up to block my blow, I was able to deliver a blow that resulted in his decapitation.
I looked over at Alexa and saw that she was still engaged in battling the females. I thought about helping her, but I saw that she was doing quite well in her combat session. In a sudden turn of events, Alexa was able to decapitate both females.
I walked over to her and gave her a smile.
She saw my injury and frowned. "Looks like you didn't juke fast enough."
I raised my hand to the injury, which was not leaking fluid. "Yeah, I must be getting careless in my old age."
She laughed.
"I suppose we should check out the androids in the mountain chamber."
She nodded.
We teleported to the chamber and found many androids in charging units, but there was no power source.
"It looks like there's at least ten thousand of them, but they're not being charged."
I looked at the long lines of charging units. "I'm not surprised. Let's check them out for explosives and then teleport them to our ship."
Suddenly, the androids disappeared.
"This could be a Tyco trap," I said.
"I don't think so," Alexa said. "I think that they were teleported to our ship, probably by your assistants."
"I think you're right. They must be reading my mind."
"That's probably what my androids are doing to me."
We teleported to our vessel and what we discovered was mind bending.
