14. Wedding Day

I woke up alone in bed. Jay was insistent on sleeping with Elton and Elton's girlfriend, Mahjabeen. He didn't want to see me before the wedding. Which was fine by me. I had just gotten so used to having him by my side that it was weird not having him there.

I started getting ready for the day. I had chosen a light blue evening style dress for the day. I loved how flowy and light it was.

I had finished getting when there was a knock on the door

I had finished getting when there was a knock on the door. I peeked out the peephole and opened it. Mahjabeen stood there, dressed in her wedding attire with a matching hijab.

Mahjabeen smiled. "Hey. Can I come in?"

I nodded. "Yeah, sure. I need help with my hair."

Mahjabeen stepped in. "It's a good thing I'm good at doing stuff like that."

I smiled. "Great. Please, come in."

She did and we started on my hair. It was finished within the hour and the rest of my friends had begun to show up. We hung around for a while before leaving to the venue. It was a long ride through the city with all the traffic. My friends ushered me inside and into a separate room. We wanted in there until the ceremony started.

I was joined by my father, who tucked my hand into his elbow. He smiled down at me before we went into the main room. Jay was waiting at the altar with the bridesmaids and the groomsmen. He was handsome as hell with his suit on. As soon as I entered the room, he looked up at me and covered his mouth. As I got closer, I could see the tears forming in his eyes.

Dad left me at the alter. Jay pulled me into a hug, quickly kissing my neck before pulling away. Our vows were exchanged and we kissed. It was passionate and loving. Jay held onto my face with all he could. I pulled away, laughing. It was certainly a moment to remember.

We left the church and went to the reception. Everyone was there. The room was full of friends and family. Jay's parents and sister were there, greeting us as soon as we entered. They were happy for both of us, though saddened by their son leaving the country. We talked to the guests until it came to our dance. Jay took my hands and pulled me close. A smile never left his face as we swayed to the music.

Jay bent his head down so his mouth was by my ear. "I love you, Josie. I can't wait for the rest of our lives together."

My lips brushed against his cheek. "I love you too, Jay. We can leave early so we don't have to talk to everyone all night."

Jay gazed down at me. "I would love that, babe. We'll grab some food, talk to a few more people, and then leave, alright?"

"Before we go home, we can stop at the beach," I said. "I've always imagined slow dancing on the sand late at night."

Jay spun me around, my skirt glaring out. "That sounds like a perfect idea. The car is outside whenever you're ready."

The song ended and I kissed Jay's cheek. "I'll take you up on that offer. Let's talk to some people though. I don't want to pull a disappearing act on our families."

We talked to our families for about an hour before we decided to head out. Jay helped me into the car and drove us to the beach. Since moving here, he had learned to drive on the left side of the road and had gotten his license. He was doing pretty good.

We arrived at the beach and we walked out to the beach. My dress was balled up in my hands as we walked, careful not to get sand in my skirt. We walked for a bit, the sun barely peeking above the endless sea. It was beautiful and peaceful with the crashing of the waves.

We eventually stopped and we started slow dancing. Conversation flowed easily as the night went on. It was getting colder as the night went on. I was shivering by the time Jay took off his jacket and put it over my shoulders.

I sighed, pulling it over my shoulders. "Thanks, Jay."

Jay brushed the side of my head. "You're welcome, dear. Tonight was fun."

I nodded, pulling the jacket tighter over my shoulders. "I had fun. We're going to have a great life together."

Jay pulled me close by wrapping an arm around my shoulders. "Yeah, we are. When do you want to head home?"

I looked out across the ocean, the rays of sun finally disappearing. "Not anytime soon. I like being out late. Besides, we have a lot of time to do stuff."

Jay gently kissed my forehead. "Then we'll stay here. I was thinking we could cuddle a little bit when we get back. We've been around people all day."

I kissed Jay's jawline. "I'm down for that. Just the two of us alone."

Jay smiled. "I'm glad I met you in Japan, Josie. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made."

"Me too," I replied. "You're the perfect match for me."

Jay smiled a little as he rested his head against mine. We stood like that in silence for about thirty minutes. We finally left and returned to our apartment. I let down my hair and took off my dress in the living room. I tossed the dress on the couch and went into my room. I crawled into the bed and Jay followed suit within a few minutes.

I buried my head into his shoulder and sighed as Jay wrapped an arm around me

I buried my head into his shoulder and sighed as Jay wrapped an arm around me. I laid an arm across his torso and pressed myself against him. It was silent except for the fan in the background. I smiled a little knowing that Jay, my husband and the love of my life was in my arms. Boy did I love my life.
