Chapter 9

Third Person's POV

A normal school day is starting, but at least that's what it seems to be. Rumors about Kazuki confessing to Rena spread like a bat of an eye. Naturally, his fangirls were enraged and started planning things against her.

"That slut!" Kurimaki Ari, the president of the 'Yoshikawa Kazuki fanclub', exclaimed. "She already has a boyfriend, and she dares seduce our Kazuki!"

"I agree, kaichou!" the vice president Nakajima Saya said while nodding. "We need to come up with some plan to get rid of that b*tch."
[kaichou = president]

The fanclub was having their nightly meeting, as usual. But this time, they were planning something evil.

When Rena got to school and opened her locker, she was greeted with an oh-so-lovely surprise--COCKROACHES, STAG BEETLES, AND OTHER INSECTS. She sighed, closed her locker after getting her shoes filled with thumbtacks, and shook her head as she took the thumbtacks off.

This kind of bullying was a piece of cake for her to handle--Heck, she has a leader of gang as a little brother! She proceeded to putting her indoor shoes on and walking to the classroom. When she got in front of the door, she looked up at the bucket of water preparing to fall off.

'I already took a bath,' she sarcastically thought anyway. She waited a bit for another person to be the bait and walked in after the poor guy. In the classroom, she was welcomed with her table carved with insults.

"slut" "bitch" "ugly" "fat" She read the insults one by one and stopped at the word "fat". She tried to surpress a giggle from escaping her mouth when she saw the word. 'They're obviously desperate for insults. She continued reading the others and was not the least bit bothered by them. She had already experienced being bullied before. Those experiences were even worse, but she was saved by her childhood friends Ria, Mana, Aoi, and the others.

"Uwah~! Hanamura-senpai, those words are terrible!" Kazuki faked a worried tone. He knew that she was going to be bullied anyway, but the fact that she was not the least bit affected by them made him interested in her more and more. "I-I-I....shouldn't have confessed after all," he said with a faked-guilty tone.

He was the cause of all this, so Rena should've been angry. But instead of taking it out on him, she smiled.

"Nah, it's okay," she said. "I'm used to this!" she said with a small giggle.

"You shouldn't get used to it!"

"Why not? This is small fry, compared to what happened back then~! Besides, I've not been scared by insects since I was born. Anyway, should you be coming to school, Kazuki-kun?" she asked, obviously truly worried. "Didn't Makoto beat you up? I'm sorry."

"Don't worry about it, Hanamura-senpai. Really, you should break up with him after he said those horrible words to hurt you! He's violent, and he might hurt you more. You deserve better."

If people insulted Rena herself, she wouldn't be angry. But insulting people important to her is completely different. Her soft and gentle expression before that she used to look at Kazuki changed to an angry, glaring one.

She sent a glare so scary, enough to send a person to piss his pants. "Don't you dare insult him."

"I have not insulted him yet though.."

For some reason, her lips curved up into a small smile though. "Just warning you~!" she said as the warning bell rang, signalling that classes are about to start.

Classes went by in a flash, and it's already the end of the day. Several things happened, like egg-throwing, swearing, screaming, and more bullying, but Rena went out unharmed or that's what it looked like. It was nothing very severe though, just a few bruises, dust, and a small wound.

"'You okay?" Hanamiya asked while sending glances to Rena, who was walking behind him, every now and then.

She nodded with a smile. "Are you worried about me?" she asked, her smile changing into a smirk.

"Yeah," he said. She did not expect this, and it made her blush while her smirk disappeared. She did not know that he was blushing a bit as well.

"I-idiot," she muttered under her breath. She did not mean for him to hear it though.

"Stop acting like a tsundere when you're not," he said with a smirk.

"I'm not!" she denied.

"I know."

"You're really lucky being able to only get off with being suspended from your club activities though, Makoto. You can practice any time, anyway," she said with a grin.

"Right. I'll make you skip practice too," he said as he dragged her out the school with him.

"Heh? B-but I'm the manager!"

"I'm the captain and the coach, so you do what I say!"

She sighed. "Fine. Like I can go against your orders, coaptain~!"

"What the hell is a coaptain? And how do you even pronounce that?" he asked.

"CU-OP-TAIN!" she said with emphasis. "Coach and captain in one word," she explained.

He scowled. "Corny..You're starting to sound like that eagle-guy from Seirin."

"Heh? Really? I find it funny."

"Your sense of humor is distorted," he said, scowling deeper, if that's possible.

"Hidoi~ssu!" she mimicked Kise.

He glared at her and said, "Now, it's getting annoying. Stop mimicking the copycat from Kaijou."

"Hai~hai!" she said with a sigh.

Hanamiya said something under his breath which she didn't hear though.

"I'll make sure that those girls will regret what they did to Rena," he said with a smirk.
