Today my life Begins

Chapter 6

Kiana made her way to Bernie's huge kitchen, where most of the family were chatting and helping themselves to the huge array of cooked goodies Bernie had prepared. " Good morning sweetie" Bernie sang out as she gave Kiana a hug. "Good morning, mmm that looks good". Bernie handed her a plate and Kiana helped herself to bacon and eggs. She pulled out a high stool at the counter and Bernie placed a mug of coffee in front of her.

"Where's Bruno?" she questioned". "He's outback smoking" Bernie shook her head she hated him smoking just as much as Kiana did. Kiana was just finishing the last of her coffee when Bruno appeared in the doorway. "Aah you finally made it down then" he smirked, "I thought you were just gonna stay in bed all day, you took so long". Kiana's head whipped round and she glared at him "Well some of us take a little longer to shower than others, and make beds and tidy someone's shit away" she rolled her eyes at him but he just gave her a little wink and turned to head into the lounge.

Kiana could hear voices coming from the lounge but couldn't make out what was being said. She stood up from her seat and handing Bernie her plate and mug thanked her for her breakfast. As she made her way to the lounge the voices became more audible, she realized then it was Bruno and Presley.

"Don't you sit there and say you weren't, I could hear you, you're not the quietest you know bro" Presley's voice floated from the lounge. Kiana froze not wanting to go any further. She knew at that moment that they're impromptu love making had been heard, and by none other than Presley, she who could not keep her big mouth shut!. "That'll teach you to listen at doors" Bruno laughed out. Kiana could feel her face redden she couldn't go in there, she tried to creep passed the archway that led into the lounge and head back to their room.

"And where do you think you're going Missy" Presley's voice rang in her ears, shit she'd been caught. She turned to see Presley standing there hands on hips, head cocked to one side waiting for an explanation. Behind Presley sitting on the sofa was Bruno, his head craned around peering from the side of Presley's body, with a huge grin on his face, at least he saw the funny side.

"I erm, I was, um" Kiana stuttered, Bruno burst out laughing "Take no notice of her, Presley mind you're own god dam business" he said as he pushed passed Presley and stepped in front of Kiana. Presley started to laugh "If y'all gonna get down and dirty y'all need to be more quiet". Kiana looked from one to the other trying to form words in her head, "I didn't think I was making a noise" she mumbled quietly. "Oh no not you" Presley corrected "It was mister Hawaiian Lion, Oh God, here it comes baby" she nodded towards Bruno. "You're just jealous cos you ain't gettin none" he laughed and turned heading towards their bedroom looking over his shoulder and winking at Presley as he disappeared through the arch. Presley looked at Kiana and burst out laughing, "Well that's me told". She went to the archway and yelled after Bruno "How do you know I'm not getting any, I just might be" Presley chuckled as she passed Kiana. Bruno's voice bellowed down the stairs "Yeah and I'm Obama". They could hear him chuckling to himself, laughing at his own response. Presley shook her head "Idiot", she rolled her eyes to Kiana and made her way to the kitchen.She loved the weird relationship these siblings had and the fact that she was now part of it.

Kiana spent the rest of her day shopping with the girls for last minute Christmas gifts and goodies. They wandered round the mall ducking into shops for various goodies, and Christmas treats, while Tahiti tried on stupid Christmas hats. Pulling stupid faces and making the other girls laugh. She and Bruno were definitely the jokers of the family and would resort to any means to entertain anyone they were with. It was a little after 6pm when they finally pulled up outside of Bernie's home, they all filed in kicking off their shoes at the door and throwing their numerous bags down. They all flopped down sinking into the huge soft leather sofas. Immediately Bernie made them all huge mugs of hot chocolate which they gratefully received.

They were all sitting around enjoying their chocolate and discussing their various purchases when Kiana noticed that Bruno hadn't made an appearance which was unusual as he would normally be into the bags by now. "Where's Bruno, is he not here?" she asked looking at Bernie for some response. Bernie was busy picking up the bags and lifted her gaze to Kiana "Oh Ryan came by and they went to meet up with some old friends, Bruno doesn't get to see them very often, he didn't think you'd mind" she answered softly. Kiana didn't mind in the least and quickly blurted out "Oh I don't mind at all, I just wondered why he hadn't been here diving in the bags" she laughed. "I think they were going out tonight together, I'm sure they'll be back to pick up you girls"

Tahiti was rummaging through her bags when she lifted her head and motioned towards Jaime and Cindiah who were both sitting on one of the couches with their legs tucked under them " I'm going out with these guys tonight we're taking the boys for burgers, so count us out, sorry". Cindiah spoke up "Yeah we're going out with our other halves and kids tonight, but you 3 should go" she said as she nodded referring to Presley, Tiara and Kiana. "Nope count me out too, I'm having a serious present wrapping fest" laughed Presley. Just then Tiara chipped in " Well I'm definitely going with them, you coming Kiana?". Thinking for a moment Kiana decided that she too would stay home and wrap presents, she didn't want to seem like she was keeping tabs on Bruno, he needed to spend some time with his old friends. " No I think I'll give it a miss, I've got things to wrap as well, and it'll be nice for Bruno to hangout with his old buddies". "Oh you two wrapping damn presents, come on come out, we'll have a great night". Presley looked to Kiana "I'm not really up for it, but you go with Bruno" she nodded her head towards Kiana. Kiana shook her head "To be honest I don't think I would last the night, all that shopping I'm beyond tired" she laughed.

Tiara shook her head " You're both wimps" she huffed as she passed them and headed upstairs to get ready. Presley rolled her eyes as she gathered up the bags and made her way to her room, with Kiana close behind. Kiana flopped on the bed, should she go tonight, it would be nice to meet Bruno's old friends. She sank further into the soft bed, nope she thought, pyjamas and present wrapping seemed a far better option.
