Chapter 16

January turned into February and then March crept in and out and now April had just begun. Bruno and Kiana were getting along famously, their relationship had grown stronger after the 'Vegas episode'. Bruno was spending most of his time rehearsing for his upcoming world tour which was kicking off in June that year. Kiana busied herself finishing off the designs for the new summer range of clothing her company was working on, so their time spent together was few and far between.

Bruno almost always slept till noon, got up ate and left for the studio around 2pm, and often did not return home till the early hours when Kiana was sleeping soundly. This had been the pattern for weeks now and Bruno desperately needed some Kiki time. It was the 16th of April and it was Kiana's 26th birthday, Bruno had planned something special to celebrate.He had purposely gone into the studio earlier that day so he could get back to celebrate Kiana's birthday. Kiana had spent the day glued to her laptop finishing designs and emailing them off to her boss.

"Eric, you missed that beat, let's go through it once more" Bruno shouted above the noise of the instruments. Eric glared at Bruno, he was sure he hadn't missed any beats but he didn't argue. He knew how much of a perfectionist his little brother was and no amount of arguing would change his mind on missed beats, missed lyrics or anything else concerning his music. The rest of the band groaned knowing they would have to re-do Treasure even though they all knew it inside out.

They took their positions and got ready to pound out the familiar beat as Bruno stood in front of the mic, "one, two,.... one, two ,three, four" Bruno counted them in and they began playing. The band played and Bruno sang, it was perfect every beat they played and every note Bruno sang blasted out perfectly. "Right guys that's it, man we gonna be fucking amazing on this tour" he yelled while high fiving Phil. The noise levels rose as they all gave each other some brotherly back patting and general ego boosting on the awesome sounds they had just created. "Yo, shut the fuck up" Bruno yelled above the din, they all fell silent and turned to Bruno waiting to hear what he had to say.

"Look guys y'all know it's Kiana's birthday and I've got plans for tonight" before he could continue Phred and Jam started making kissy noises "Aww Bruno all loved up" Jam laughed as he patted Bruno's back. Bruno just shook his head and rolled his eyes, "As I was saying, I've got plans and as I may....or may not be suffering from the hangover from hell tomorrow y'all can have a day off". The whole band whooped at the thought of not rehearsing tomorrow "Thanks bro"  they all sang out while quickly grabbing their stuff and hurrying out before Bruno got a chance to change his mind.

Eventually there was only Bruno and Phil left. Bruno flopped onto the worn leather sofa and took a swig from the cold beer he'd grabbed from the fridge. He laid his head back on the sofa and closed his eyes letting out a deep sigh. "You OK B, you look whacked" Phil said as he took a seat next to Bruno. "Yeah I'm just so fucking tired how the fuck will we ever get through this tour?".

"Look Bruh we'll all be so fucking hyped up I mean we're gonna be playing fucking arenas, we'll not feel like sleeping it'll be great I can't wait", Phil slapped his hand onto Bruno's knee and squeezed. Bruno opened his eyes and looked at his best friend, the smile spread across his face. "Yeah you're right it's gonna be fucking awesome". Phil cleared his throat "Um Bru  it seems you and Kiana are back on track after the Vegas incident, is everything going ok between you both now?". He glanced across at Bruno waiting for his answer. Bruno sat up turning to face Phil " Phil my man we are more than ok we're awesome" he laughed taking another swig from his bottle. Phil's smile spread across his face he knew that look, he knew Bruno was up to something, "So you gonna tell me what you up to or nah?" he enquired. Bruno just shook his head "Nah, you'll find out soon enough" he laughed and winked, Phil just nodded and tipped up the bottle held to his lips. They both finished their beers, said their goodbyes and left. Bruno sat in his car and held his phone to his ear "Yo sis is everything still on for tonight?" he asked his oldest sister, who along with his sister-in-law was setting the scene in his home later tonight. "Bruno everything's sorted stop worrying it'll be beautiful" Jaime laughed she knew Bruno wanted everything to be perfect for the love of his life on her special day. "I know, I know I'm, just making sure is Cindi still gonna help you to set it all up?" he inquired. "Yes Bruno Cind's helping and it will be just how you want it, so get off the goddamn phone and get home to Kiki". Bruno laughed "Geez J you're a bossy lil bitch when you wanna be". " Bye Bruno" and with that she hung up on him. Bruno glanced at the clock on his dash 3pm....They should be getting delivered just about now, he thought. He was referring to the three dozen baby pink roses he had ordered to be delivered to Kiana today, he smiled to himself as he thought about her.
