Chapter 1.- You're a liar.

Eleven´s POV

It was time to wake up, from my room I could smell the bacon, Mrs. Byers was the best cook in the world, I would like to have an appetite, I would like to feel emotion for something again.

I thought everything was fine, everything has improved, despite the distance I kept in touch with my friends, I kept in touch with Mike, he tried so hard that every day I loved him more,he studied and remained the best in school and still organized to talk to me, help me with my homework, organize every trip to Chicago to see us, I remember that on one occasion Nancy had to work and because of that she could not drive but Mike had promised to visit me and he always keeps his promises (or that's what I thought) so he took a bus and traveled here, I couldn't believe when I opened the door and saw him standing there with a bouquet of yellow flowers, his nose was red and he sneezed a lot, always considered it romantic that he gave me flowers at every encounter even though he was allergic. He was the best boy in the world and he was my boyfriend, I loved to call him that, we never need any title but I loved being his girlfriend, I remember the day we made it official ... again.

*Flashback ON*

"El , I think this is the best angle to watch the sunset”. Mike spread a blanket over the sand, they had decided to watch the sunset on the beach that afternoon and Joyce had given them authorization.

"Cool". Eleven said with a shy smile, it was the first time they had seen each other alone since the moving day and they hadn't been able to talk about Eleven's kiss and confession, Mike was very nervous and as always his only solution to calm down was to start to speak.

“El, about what you said that afternoon, I didn't know that Max had told you everything, you know… about the cabin, I'm sorry you found out that way, I always thought that the first time I told you… “THAT” would be more…romantic". Mike's face was completely red.

"¿THAT? ... you mean, BLANK makes you crazy?" Eleven started laughing, brightening the atmosphere.

“ Ha-ha-ha… You think you're very funny mocking your silly boyfriend”. Mike said the world boyfriend without thinking, his smile went out as soon as he saw Eleven's surprised face so he tried to correct himself immediately. "Sorry, what I mean is”... Mike couldn't finish his sentence because Eleven's lips covered his in a tender kiss, Mike took her face with his hands and pulled her closer to him, nothing else existed even that huge sea that was in front of them, they only separated to take a breath and still close enough to Mike to feel his breath Eleven said with a whisper; “Mike, you're my boyfriend, never doubt it, I'm so sorry for what happened, I was unfair to you and…”. Another kiss interrupted her words but now it was Mike who had started it, he just stopped to ask; “So ... ¿Do you want to be my girlfriend again?"

The smile that appeared on Eleven's face was even more beautiful than the sunset that was happening in the same place…"I never stopped being your girlfriend"

 

*Flashback OFF*

Can a person change so much in such a short time? Now it seems that I was talking about a completely different boy, as if the Mike who found me in that forest and saved my life had never existed, the pain was huge, after losing Hopp, I lost Mike in a different way, he walked away, just gave up, broke his promise to always take care of me.

I spend sleepless nights thinking what I did wrong, because he just stopped loving me, because he got tired of everything, I don't understand it, months have passed but I still remember that horrible afternoon.

*Flashback ON*

The phone rang in the Byers house, everyone knew who was calling, it was 7:30 pm and at that time the phone belonged to Eleven.

"El, honey, Mike is on the phone." Joyce shouted, waiting for Eleven to answer, she had placed a phone in her room so she could have privacy, as soon as I heard her voice she hung up and returned to the kitchen, for her, they are one true pair.

“Hi Mike”. Eleven's smile was so big that Mike was always able to see it through the phone. “I have so much to tell you, today I was finally able to present my final essay to the teacher, I was very nervous but said that I did well, I also presented it to my other classmates and everyone applauded, I was very excited, thank you for helping me, I think that without you I don't ...” "El, wait ... I need" Mike interrupted her, his voice was cold and expressionless. “I wanted to talk to you about something, about us, I think this is not working anymore”. Eleven was silent for a few seconds, a few seconds ago she was completely happy and now she was trying to understand Mike's words. "Mike ... what are you talking about, what is not working?" Mike sighed and continued. "It´s about this relationship at a distance, I think it is absurd to think that this is going to work, we are far away, I am getting very distracted at school, all my free time is trying to keep this communication with you and you do the same, we are missing many things, of making new friends, living new things, this is not healthy, I think the best thing is all this ends, we should keep our distance, I didn't want to tell you this on the phone, I'm really sorry”. Everything was spinning in Eleven's room, she could not believe what she heard, she did not want to believe it, this had to be a joke.

"Mike, it's a joke rigth?, this isn't funny, it can't be true, we're fine, yesterday everything was perfect, things couldn't change in one day". Eleven began to cry, almost pleading for an explanation, hoped to wake up and that everything was a dream, but it wasn´t, on the other side of the line, Mike was firm in his decision. “Eleven, I'm really sorry, this is not new, I have time feeling like this, I think I want to meet more people, make new friends…meet other girls”. That last sentence ended up killing any trace of hope that was in Eleven's heart, she closed her eyes tightly letting her tears fall.

"You lied Mike, you're a liar, you said you loved me, you said it and proved it so many times, were you lying and pretending? No one can stop loving that fast!". Then Mike said something that would eventually destroy her; “So…maybe I never really loved you, I did for you what I would do for any friend, I didn't want anything to happen to you and I felt the need to protect you, maybe I confused that with love but now that everything is fine, I can see the reality and we have to take different directions”. That was it, Eleven had no words, voice or a heart to answer ... the call ended and all Mike could hear was the sound of the phone crashing maybe on some wall of that room.

*Flashback OFF*

I had to find a way to continue with my life, Every day I forced myself to get out of bed and think about the people who loved me, continue my studies and make new friends, I knew I was not the only one who suffered, our group was broken by Mike's decision, he didn't talk to anyone, he ignored them, he had a different life now and that Paladin who risked his life to save his friends, didn´t exist anymore. My powers had not returned, I was just a normal girl and I had to face life and pain like other people, but as Hopp said; "The pain is good”
