Chapter Nine - The Gift

Emi's POV

I looked at the watch and it was past 4:00 pm. I yapped as I'm late to pick up Alas. I rushed to the system to sign out and then I picked the bag that contains Alas and my clothes from the locker. I thank god that Alas's nursery is close to my work. It took me less than five minutes to reach Alas nursery. As I entered I saw Ms. Yokimara in the hallway and she smiled at me.

"Welcome Mrs. Maou you came to pick up Alas" she smiled at me.

"yes, Ms. Yokimara" I saw her enter the last room calling Alas for me.

"mama is here" Alas was running toward me.

"ready to go home" I picked her up.

She nodded and I held her backpack and put her down holding her hand. Since here they don't encourage the adults to hold the kids and carry them. They rather let the kids walk on their own and learn the responsibility at an early age.

I was heading to Rika's apartment and when I arrived, I saw the lights of her apartment is on. I thought it strange did Rika left early I thought she supposed to finish at 6 pm today. Not to worry about that I rang the bell instead of inserting the key since she is apparently in her apartment. It took the door to open 10 seconds and I saw Ashiya.

" Oh hello Ashiya is Rika in there." I asked him

"Oh come on in Emilia she is in her way" he let me in.

"Be good girl Alas and go sit there and play with your toy" I looked to Alas and took her hat.

I saw Ashiya go to the TV and turning it on and he changed the channel to the kids' channel then back to the kitchen. It looks like he was preparing dinner for Rika and I thought that I hope I'm not intruding or messing their day.

Later I see Rika return from her work, and she greeted me before heading to Ashiya hugging him.

Ashiya was eyeing me the whole time as I thought he wants to say something but he is afraid.

Ashiya POV

I'm wondering why Emilia until now is here. Doesn't she supposed to be with my liege, I saw the bag she placed it in the living room. It looks like Alas staff so that means she will leave Alas here and then she will head to Maou to let him seal her and mate with her to have his demon child. I didn't like Hero Emilia but now since she found that my liege didn't kill her father her way with us changed. Emi Yusa is a nice person so I guess her being the mother of the next overlord is not that bad of an idea.

"Baby did you finish preparing the dinner I'm so hungry" Rika asked me

"yes baby now I will serve it"

I placed the dinner and it was crispy chicken bites with salad. Emi placed Alas next to her and started to eat. I looked at Rika with a question expression on my face. She knew that I'm asking why Emilia is eating with us since I told her about Satan 333 year ritual. She nodded to me and shrugged her shoulder.

"Emi aren't you going to give Maou his gift" I heard Rika asking Emilia.

"I'm since I forgot to bring my work uniform for tomorrow with me" Emi answered.

"Wait why to bring it aren't you going to leave Alas here and leave to celebrate with Maou" Rika said

"No need for me to stay there tonight I don't want to disturb Maou's night"
