tyler wakes up to an extremely loud ringing and the steady breathing of josh beside him. the small brunette sleepily reaches his arm out and manages to grasp his vibrating phone.

"hello?" tyler says, rubbing his eye tiredly.

"tyler robert joseph, where are you?" the brunette's eyes widen at his mother's stern tone and he begins to panic.

tyler silently panics and quickly rushes out,

"i-i'm at jenna's."

his mother seemed to be pleased with the answer, not noticing that her son's breathing is not normal and begins to drone on about how nice of girl jenna is.

"she's such a nice and well-kept young lady, tyler. i don't see why you two can't be more than friends." the brunette mutes his side of the call and sighs as tears begin filling his eyes.

"yeah, uh, i gotta go. i'll be home soon." tyler responds with hanging up very speedily.

after placing his phone on josh's beside table once more, the small boy feels his eyes begins to water over and warm tears stream down his cheeks. his breathing becomes unnatural and soft sobs escape his lips. from all the commotion and sounds, josh wakes and immediately sits up to comfort the boy. he doesn't need an explanation right now, he just needs to be there for his crying angel.

"can you follow my breathing, precious?" josh asks, gently grasping the boy's hand and placing it over his own chest to show tyler his calm breaths.

after the brunette finally calms down and gets his breathing back to normal, both boys sit in the quiet room and immediately are engulfed in the soft, orange morning sun.

"mom don' like me being wif' you." tyler mumbles softly and wraps his own arms around himself.

noticing the action of insecurity, josh delicately grabs ahold of both of tyler's hands and places them around his neck. the brunette twiddles with josh's dyed curls as the other speaks quietly and gently,

"maybe she shouldn't get a say in who you're with. i'm always here, ty, yeah?" the red haired pulls the boy into his lap by his waist, pressing kisses to his forehead repeatedly.

"can i 'ave a kissie right here?" the small boy timidly asks, pointing to his plump lips.

joshua nods and smiles softly, pressing his own lips to tyler's red cherry ones. the older pecks his lips over and over again before pulling away, cascading his hands through tyler's fluffy and tangled hair.

"let's get you home, angel."

"but i don' wanna go 'ome." tyler pouts, tightening his arms around the boy's neck.

"you have to, little one. you're momma wouldn't be very happy if you weren't with her."

"i cant make momma sad!" tyler says, gasping in realization.

josh smiles fondly and nods, pressing another kiss to the smaller's lips.

-

"bye joshwa!"

after tyler leaves josh's car and opens his door, his mother is immediately hugging him and saying how worried she was.

"tyler, you need to tell me when you go somewhere."

"m' sorry, we went for breakfast." he didn't like lying, but his mom would probably throw him in a church if she knew where he really was.

"just tell me next time."
