Lauren's POV
"Bye guys. I am going to miss you so much." I bend down to hug my little sister, Lucy. After the line of people I come to last and hardest to leave, Connor, he is my half brother, but my best friend. He picks me up and engulfs me into a hug.
"Make sure you send pictures everyday, okay 'Ren? He says setting me down. I nod, "I promise."
I grab my suit case and walk up to the cab that's taking me to the airport. I turn around and wave to everyone. I hop in and we drive off, seeing my small two story house fading away in the distance.
Once I get on the plane I find my seat, which is happily the window seat. I sit and watch the people file in. Eventually a petite 30ish year old woman sits next to me. I hold out my hand and she shakes it, "Hello, I'm Lauren."
"I'm Kelly, nice to meet you" she introduces. After that I put in my headphones and put on 'Dracula' by Bea Miller. I got out a book and started to read.
The book was about a family who has to leave their home because the father killed a FBI agent. They fled to America and settled down. I got tired after and hour or two, so I put the book away and pushed my seat back.
I feel pressure on my shoulder and a faint noise. "Miss, we are here. Miss please wake up." I slowly open my eyes and see the flight attendant staring back at me. I quickly gather my stuff and head off the plane.
I look around and I see a family hugging each other and I immediately start to feel tears build up. I take a deep breath and calm down. I walk up to a small fast food place near some shops and order a hotdog and a drink. Once I get my food I walk to the exit and tried to get a taxi. I landed in New Castle so it was not that busy.
Once I finally got one, I told the driver to take me to the closest hotel. We got to Southern Bank Hotel and I payed the driver and thanked him.
The whole drive here was amazing. Australia is so much more beautiful than boring America. They have beaches and the weather is wonderful. I somehow think I won't miss Michigan as much anymore.
I walk to the front counter and they give me a key to room 5F. It's not that high up. And the elevator was so amazing. There was a window the size of the walls and you could see the city of New Castle.
*Ding*
I walked out of the elevator and went to my room. The room wasn't much. Just a queen sized bed, drawers, a desk, with a bathroom, and a mini fridge, microwave, and counter with a coffee machine. I pulled out my laptop and clicked on the email from my online college. It says...
Dear Ms. Jacobs,
For your research project you must turn in the following items in an emailed essay.
-10 pictures of around Australia
-5 pictures of you with the people you met in Australia
-a 900 word essay of what you saw and experiencedSincerely,
Frontworth CollegeAfter that I was kind of tired so I decided to get some sleep.
~the next day~
I woke up around 10:30 and immediatly made some coffee. I looked out my window and saw some shops across the street along with small cafe. I finally got awake enough to get ready. I slipped on a teal button up crop top and pulled on some light jean shorts. I searched for my white converse and eventually slipped then on too. I curled my hair and did a little braid with my bangs. After I did my make up, I got out my tribal designed backpack and put my camera, laptop, and phone in there. I slipped my room key in the side pocket and was ready to leave.
I entered the first shop, which was a clothes store. It contained mostly dark clothing, which is not really my style. I usually wear either really happy cheerful colours or I have to go full out rock style. I look around the shop for a bit and find a blue dress that comes to just above my knees. It has lace over the blue on the top part. I went into a dressing room and tried it on. I came out and look at the mirror, I twirled around.
When I stopped I saw 4 boys staring at me. They all were around 6'. Their faces showed awe. I felt the heat rise to my cheeks and automatically knew I was blushing. I quickly rushed back into the dressing room and put my clothes back on. I went up to the front counter and started to pull out my money when then cashier said, "Ma'am this is already paid for." I was so confused who had already payed for it, until she nodded her head in the direction of the 4 tall boys. I quickly said thank you and left the store.
I stopped right outside the shops and waited for the mysterious boys to come out. While I waited I took a picture of the road and the shops on the side of the road. Finally they all came out, but they all went in different directions. The one with the coloured hair came up to me and introduced himself. "Hi, I'm Michael," he smiles. The guy whose name is Michael sits down on the bench next to me and waits for me to introduce myself.
"I'm Lauren," I say shyly.
