Nico came back after his conversation with Percy. He giggled as he recalled Percy's bewildered expression when he confessed. Dang, confessing for seeing Percy's eyes go wide in shock is totally worth it. He started climbing up the steps of the infirmary. Will Solace, son of Apollo and paramedic extraordinaire had instructed - no, ordered him to spend three days in the infirmary if he didn't want to turn into underworld goo.
Will was standing at the doorstep of the infirmary, leaning against the doorframe with his arms crossed. As Nico approached him, his posture relaxed. 'You ready?' Will asked. Nico nodded. For the first time, Nico had a really good look at Will. Will Solace was easily half a foot taller than him. He had a roughly oval face and a deep set jaw. He had wheatish coloured, tanned skin. His dark blue eyes were intelligent looking; they shone like crystals in the sunlight. His nose bridge had a light splash of freckles. His dark, honey blonde coloured curls fell to his forehead in a carefree sort of way. In the terms of looks, Will had Apollo's blood alright.
Will snapped his fingers for attention. 'What are you staring at, Death Boy?' Will asked. Nico blinked twice. He hadn't realised he was staring at Will.'Well, come in', Will said leading the way. Nico followed him inside. Will led him to a bed that was separated from the rest of the infirmary by a panel of curtains. 'Your home for the next three days. I gave you this place so that you don't scare the patients away and you can have your solitude.' Scare the patients away? Nico thought. Will was nuts. Nico shot him a death glare. Will totally ignored that.
'Now, I will hook you up with some basic equipment, so that if you try to shadow travel, I'll know.' Will said, sliding a cloth peg-sort of thing to the middle finger of his left hand. Nico winced. Now he had had enough.
'I'm leaving. Enough of this drama.' Nico announced, getting up. Will pushed him back. He looked right into Nico's dark eyes and said 'No...You will stay here. Three days. Doctor's orders. With the monitor on. Any more underworld tricks I swear the next place you would be is going to be your funeral.' Will announced, threateningly. His eyes gleamed with fury. Then he went back to adjusting the pulse monitor, his expression again sunny and calm. I wonder how many patients have recieved such death threats from their dearest doctor, Nico thought. Will adjusted a few more buttons and said 'Everything's set. Three days. Enjoy.' he said, leaving him alone. Nico sighed. 'Three days,' he muttered, 'shouldn't be that bad.'****
Will put down his copy of General Human Anatomy. He was lying still on his bunk. He glanced at his wristwatch. 12.00 Am. An hour and a half since his night visit to the infirmary. However hard he tried, he couldn't stop thinking about Nico di Angelo. The way his chocolate-coloured brown hair fell to his eyes...the way his eyes glitter like polish obsidian in the sunlight...Oh Gods. That guy was seriously adorable.
What am I even thinking, Will thought, Nico and I? He is my exact opposite. Will then stared out of his window. He just couldn't sleep. Some time in the infirmary might help, he thought. Will strapped his sandals and set out in the cold night towards the infirmary.
Will very quietly opened the infirmary door, his books in one hand. Suddenly, an unusually loud, beeping sound filled the air. It seemed to come from the very end of the infirmary. The very last ward...Will thought...Oh no...Nico...dropping his books, he ran to the last ward.
