"I guess we need to talk." Nico said.
Will nodded his head.
Together, they walked towards the Capture the Flag clearing, where they had a rather eventful sparring session, which had ended up with a wounded dryad and doing dishes for a week.
They both sat down barefooted on the green grass. Will had already removed his safety equipment and his coat, which lay bundled on the grass. Nico had done the same, except for he decided to keep them on his lap. (Gosh seems like I need to do something about chapter intros.)
Will was sitting with his head in his hands. Nico wasn't sure how to approach him; he didn't have the best socialising skills. He settled for a gentle tap on the shoulder.
Will looked up startled. His face was drained of colour and his paper white lips were pressed together in a thin line. His sapphire eyes were gleaming with tears.
"Will...um...uh, I hope you are feeling better." No reply came.
"Will, shall I tell you something?" Nico asked rhetorically. "You can tell me anything. Like anything that bothers you, you know."
Will simply stared at him.
"Alright, let's get straight to the point." Nico said. "Will, what's happening? What is had happened?" He asked.
Will shook his head.
"Oh c'mmon! I'm here, trying my best to help you! You need to cooperate with me, okay?!" It took him a moment to realise that maybe, shouting on emotionally disturbed people didn't work.
"Look Solace, you said I'm your friend. And as far as I know, friends don't tend to keep secrets from each other. So please, as my friend, tell me what's bothering you." Nico said slowly. (So cliche I know)
Will took in a deep breathe and sighed. "I'm not sure where to start from.." he said, as he gave in to Nico's request, "But here we go..." He fiddled with the pockets of his coat, and pulled out a small picture, which he handed to Nico.
Nico observed the picture. It was a girl, who looked like she was around 17 to 18 years old. She looked oddly familiar, with a straight nose, a light splash of freckles across the nose bridge and an oval face with a deep set jaw. Straight, ebony hair fell past her shoulders. Her hazel eyes twinkled with amusement. In the picture she was laughing as if someone had cracked a joke. Her laughter would have been infectious: even though it was just a picture, looking at it brought a smile on Nico's face. But still, something seemed off about it.
"Pretty, isn't she?" Will said, breaking Nico's train of thoughts. (I seem to have overused this phrase lol) "You see Nico, she's my sister, my elder sister: Emily Solace."
That why Nico thought that Emily looked so familiar. They both had oval faces, strong jawlines and the same infectious, 440 volt smiles.
" She was very close to me you know. Around 5 years older than me...but she understood me the best." Will continued.
"Well, she was 18 years old...that was almost a year ago...the most popular jerk at her school started stalking her and he would send her creepy messages and all. One day, during the recess, he asked her out. She refused, obviously. He started arguing with her and started forcing himself upon her. My sister slapped him across his face. She told him she would never date a creep and a pervert like him, who had no respect for women. He didn't say anything. That night, she received the creepiest message she had ever received: I'll see you...you gotta pay me back darling."
