Nico di Angelo was already standing by the glittering expanse of the river near their camp. Will dumped his flip flops near the sandy banks and walked up to him. Nico was standing facing the river with his back turned. Apparently he wasn't aware of Will's presence.
Generally, for a person like Nico, Will would love to startle him by creaming in his ears...something like 'Look behind, you raving lunatic!' (HP reference anyone?), but being experienced, Will didn't want to startle the son of Hades. That generally led to accidental decapitation with a Stygian Iron sword.
So Will settled for gentle tapping on the shoulder. Nico spun around in surprise, his hand on the hilt of his sword. 'Whoa! Calm down mister, it's me.' Will exclaimed.
'Solace', Nico said 'You are-' 'No Death Boy I'm not late let's sitdown.' Will cut across him. Nico opened his mouh to say something, but he settled for a scowl. 'You might want to know that you are barefooted', Nico finally said, pointing at his feet. Will shrugged. 'If don't want sand in your shoes, you'll follow my example.' Nico stood there for a moment, as if regarding his statement. He the walked upto the sand bank and dropped his black shoes next to Will' flip flops. He then rolled up his dark grey socks (Who wears grey socks in this heat, Will thought.) and dropped inside his shoes. Then finally, Nico came back to him. They both sat on the warm sand. (This paragraph sounds useless lol.)
Nico sat down and absent mindedly started drawing designs on the sand. Will regarded him once again. He looked better than last night; his face was pale; his tousled dark hair starkly contrasted with his olive complexion. He obviously inherited his father's eyes. Only the Lord of the Dead can have such intense dark eyes, with a raging fire in them, which signifies that either the person is a genius or he is a psychopath.
Will sighed. He brought out his writing pad, where had made some notes about today's session. He flipped through the pages and started revising them.
*****
Will brought out his writing pad and a ballpoint pen. He flipped through a few pages and started reading. It was the same one he had used last night. It was covered in notes in neat cursive. (Even this doesn't make sense.)
Nico was kind of startled. Generally demigods were dyslexic and had a mutual enemity with cursive. But Will's notes, which were obviously made by him, were covered in cursive. Nico was slightly dyslexic; he didn't have reading issues as much as Percy did. But still, he could make out Will's hand writing all right.
'Will, aren't you dyslexic? How can you red and write in cursive? Your handwriting is quite decent!', Nico blutered out without thinking. Dang it...he thought, Why did I have to say that? Will might smack him on the head with his clipboard (or writing pad, whatever),or maybe stab him with his pen.
Will did neither. He chuckled and put away his clipboard. 'Many people have asked me that. Well, I exactly don't have dyslexia; I have slight problem in reading extremely fancy texts. So I can read and write cursive pretty well. And cursive...looks good and organised. I personally like writing in cursive.' He finished.
'So, you write prescriptions in cursive? Demigods can read that?' Nico asked. He mentally facepalmed himself. Why was he asking such stupid questions? But this time, Solace did not chuckle. He literally started wheezing with laughter. (Idk why he did that tho) 'Oh gods Nico,' Will said, regaining his possé. 'You ask such innocent questions!' Will said, still giggling. 'What?' Nico said, 'That was a completely reasonable question. Most of the demigods are dyslexic, and dyslexic people have problems in reading cursive!' Will was still giggling.
Nico got frustrated. 'What Solace? You write in cursive. Which means you also write prescriptions in cursive. Most of your patients are dyslexic and dyslexic people cannot read cursive. That's cruel!' Will immediately stopped giggling, but he still looked amused, which...was a pretty site. His hair was falling to his eyes as usual, his sapphire eyes now glittered with amusement. His mouth was twitching, as if he was fighting a smile, which he of course was.
'First thing: I care a lot about my patients. Not a word about that. Secondly,' he said sliding his clipboard into Nico's lap, 'Can you read this?' He asked. Nico looked down. He could perfectly read Solace's handwriting.
'Yep', he answered.
'Are you dyslexic?'
'Sort of, more than you are and less than Percy is.'
'There you go', Will said triumphantly.
'Third thing: Most of the campers can read my handwriting, thanks to seven years of hard practice. If someone is really dyslexic, then I can write pretty well in block too. And fourth thing: I seldom give prescriptions.' Will said, still smiling.
Nico rolled his eyes. He checked his watch. It was 4 pm. 'Well Solace, an hour has already passed. So, when are you starting with your session?' Nico asked, trying to sound annoyed.
'Oh, well...I might like to add that today's session is over.' Will said. 'What?!' Nico spat, trying to get that you-wasted-my-time tone. But he couldn't. He mentally thanked the Fates for his cursed luck.
'Yes Nico, the session is over.' Will said. Are we on first name basis now? Nico thought. 'But all that we talked about was handwriting and dyslexia.' Nico retorted. 'Actually, the entire point of counselling is to get the person open up and help him have a civil conversations...in short...ah, come out of the shadows.' Will explained. Nico just stared at him for like ten seconds. That guy was totes weird...in a good way. Now where did that come from?
Will grabbed his clipboard and pen. 'Anyways, head back to the infirmary. See you tomorrow.' With that Will Solace left him. Nico simply stood near the water, barefooted, letting the river wash his feet. Solace's absence felt like a gaping hole to him. Not even a minute he was gone, and Nico wss already missing him?
But why?
Nico felt angry for feeling that. Solace was way out of his league. He already knew that. Then why did he regret Will's absence so much? He should be happy; that the interfering little busybody has left. But he felt otherwise. The same question echoed in his mind.
Did he have feelings for Will Solace?
Uh-Oh
