"Have you seen Zach?" I shouted over the loud music to one of his friends.
"Martin? Yeah, he's out there." The junior football player stated before being dragged away by a girl.
I huffed and rolled my eyes, not the Zach I wanted to find but it'll do. He's probably down there with them anyway.
Stupid, naive little brother.
I treaded around the sweaty and hormonal teenagers to reach the balcony doors. I slid the open and instantly shivered at the cold air that nipped at my skin. I knew I should've worn more than an oversized shirt and sweatpants but I couldn't complain, it was all that fit me at the moment.
A few Nobles hung around the place, none of them paying me any attention as I slipped into the uncharted territory. I moved to hide in a corner as the model looking teens passed by, keeping an eye out for my little brother who seemed to disappear into thin air.
Suddenly, voices talking in hushed whispers caught my attention.
I peeked around the corner to a hidden side wall that the balcony stretched out to. Standing there were the Royals, clad in designer party dresses and expensive dress shirts. They were huddled together, looking out from the balcony.
"They were looking for you, Martin," I assumed it was Mike talking.
"Doesn't mean you send some other innocent person instead!" Zach growled, angrily.
"Keep your voice down! Someone's gonna hear you." India scolded.
"You sent the freshman?" Zach drew ragged breaths.
"They said Zachary, but they didn't specify which one." Vivienne leaned against the balcony with a blank look on her face.
"God, you're all idiots! They'll kill him." The youngest Tesler, Matt sighed.
Missy shrugged her shoulders, "It's better him than our Zach."
A few glares from a selected few of Royals were sent her way as she said this.
I put my hand over my mouth to stop my gasp from catching their attention, who was they? Why were they gonna kill my brother? Oh god my poor brother, where was he?
My question was voiced out by Zach, "Where are they? I need to stop all of your stupid mistakes."
"They're outside the gates to the side." I'm pretty sure Ryan said.
"ALEX!"
I jumped awake, harbouring deep breaths as I looked around.
I sat on my bed with sweat covering my body and the feeling of wetness on my cheeks. It was dark when I looked at the clock to see it was around 2 AM. Standing above me was my dad who was looking at me with a pitiful expression.
"I came home and went to check on you, only to find you crying in your sleep." He wiped the tears off my face as I laid back down trying to regain my normal breathing pattern.
Silence swept over us as I didn't reply.
He sat down next to me and stroked my hair, "Are the nightmares coming back again?"
I nodded my head as tears formed in my eyes again, "I miss him, dad."
"I know, sweetheart," He pulled my head into his chest for a hug, "We all do."
