06 | do i wanna know?
I found refuge in a hidden corner of the library, away from the wandering eyes of drama seeking students.
It was first break and I only had a few minutes to spare by myself because at some point, Zach would end up finding me in this golden gleaming labyrinth of a library.
Pulling out a chair from the table, I sat down and reached into my bag from Ryan's calculator and mine. Yep, I did actually have my calculator with me. And thanks to the school's list required equipment, they were exactly the same.
Well, almost. Mine didn't have any hidden notes on the coverslip written in invisible ink pen.
Hastily, I removed the coverslip of my calculator and switched it with his then hid them inside my bag just in time as Zach rounded the corner and stood tall in front of me. I stared up at him, unmoving from my seat.
He didn't move a muscle, it was like the first person who broke from our staring contest would have to wear something that cost less than 50 dollars. How brutal. It was only when a freshman walked past wheeling an annoyingly loud cart full of book, I glanced away.
"What was it you wanted so desperately to talk to me about?" I broke the silence.
"I wouldn't use the word desperate," His voice was deepened as he scorned lowly, afraid that there was someone listening.
"Oh, so I guess you wouldn't mind if I just walked out right now?" I stood up, slinging my bag over my shoulder, and walked past him.
His hand shot out and grabbed my upper arm, "Stop."
There goes that commanding voice of his, I bet he was used to people following his every order. I looked from him to his hand clamped around my arm, a disgusted look forming on my face, before shaking out of his grasp.
"Touch me again and you'll wish you didn't wear that Armani suit to school today." I scoffed.
His jaw clenched, "Brave words to say to a Royal, Princess."
"What are you going to do? Tell your rich daddy?" I mocked him.
His eyes darkened, "You'd be surprised by what I can do, can what I know."
I paused and tilted my head in curiosity to analyse his face for any sign that would give away what he was thinking. What could he do?
"Now, I have a matter to discuss-" He was cut off by the sound of the warning bell signalling us to get a move on.
Yes, saved by the bell.
"Uh oh, guess this will have to wait till later," I started navigating my way through the library, "Or better yet, never."
"You can't run forever," Zach called after me.
"That's too bad, I could've burned a whole lot of calories." I said sarcastically as I let the library.
Twisting and turning through the prestigious hallways of Trentwood Prep, I found myself at the door of my Calculus where I was about to take the first test of the year.
And for a moment, the rash decision of using Ryan's cheating method crossed my mind.
I shook my head and entered the classroom to sit in my designated seat, I wasn't going to fall down to his level and cheat on my test which I had admittedly revised for only the night before. I wasn't going to like them, not like the people who I despised.
As the last of the straggler students found their seats, our papers were distributed as we took out the required equipment. When everyone was prepared, the teacher set us off with a timer.
