It was a hot summer night, and everyone decided that they should go crash the high school party down the street. Everyone started to put on their shoes except for Jamal.

"I don't know guys, maybe this isn't a good idea. We should just stay at Ruby's and play a game or something."  Everyone just stared at him and then started to laugh.

"Come on Jamal, for once in your life just let loose and relax." Cesar said while patting him on the back. A couple of hours passed by, before everyone started to talk.

"Do you see him, cause I don't see him?" Monse said, while her, ruby and Jamal, was looking over the fence.

Jamal stood there looking nervous shaking his head. "Something bad is happening, I can feel it. I knew this was a bad idea."

Ruby turned and looked at Jamal. "Pop a zannie, J. I mean we can't see him 'cause he's being stealth."

5 minutes passed by and all you heard was Cesar's voice. "Only cause I picked the kid with no skills, and I'd pick you again." Cesar smiles and throws everyone a beer. "Loyalty trumps victory, compa."

They all take a breath before taking a sip. Everyone except Cesar had a disgusted look on their face. He was just used to it. Next thing you know you hear a loud bang.

[GUNSHOTS]

"That was a thirty-eight." Monse said while running away from the house.

Jamal: "No, it was a forty-five."

Ruby: "It sounded like a forty-four."

Jamal: "Wrong!" He yelled while still running.

[GUNSHOT]

They all continued running and yelled together. "357." They all rushes back to Ruby's house, Cesar and Monse sitting on the couch while Jamal and Ruby was spying on Mario, Ruby's older brother.

Monse POV:

I sat on the couch as Cesar came and plopped down beside me. "Que estas pensando en tu cabeza?"
"Nada." I replied, "My brain is empty." He look at me and smirked a little.

I was upset because my dad had me going to some stupid writing camp for the rest of the summer. It sucked because I wouldn't be able to hang out with the crew especially Cesar, but my dad said it's a good thing for me to go.

"Do I really need some stupid writing camp, I don't want to waste my summer." I stopped paying with my hands and looked up at Cesar.

"It's not a waste, it's badass. Not everyone can get in, even the kids who pay." He said, then turning around to get something out his pocket. He pulled out a small writing journal and handed it to me.

"But you'll need this." I took the journal from him smiling hard as ever. I swear my cheeks was starting to hurt. He really is thoughtful and sweet.

Mario came inside, and started giving us a speech about high school. "High school, it's the foundation for the rest of your life. Any false starts could lead to your own dead end." We all just stared at him like he was crazy.

"Is Mario high?" I said with a confused look on my face, looking at the boys. Mario continued talking for another good 15 minutes.

"Now sure, you guys are smart, setting curves and all that, but you still have to go hard, 'cause there's only one chance at a first impression. So, do you want to sit on the sidelines or play in the game?"

Jamal raises his hand a little bit, then put it back down quickly. "I just don't wanna die." We all laughed, and Mario started to walk out the door but came back.

" Damn, I almost forgot, One last thing, don't bone Monse."
