It was 8:30 AM, not too terribly early in the morning for most people. Though, that didn't account for jet-lagged angels, and who knew that they could get jet-lagged in the first place? It wasn't your typical plane jet lag, either. It was caused by her human form adjusting to having human needs, as disgusting and strange as they were. She didn't want them, but it was a means of "fitting in."

She would just have to tough it out.

Yesterday, Ryan had offered to drive her to the airport, like the gentleman he was, so she told him to pick her up on the street adjacent to her apartment complex. So far, he was fifteen minutes late. No worries, she expected it.

It was only when it began to near the forty-five-minute mark did she start to worry. Sure, it was only 9:15 and the plane didn't leave until 11:15. However, she knew that L.A. traffic could be a literal pain in the ass, especially trying to get the airport. You always wanted to leave at least an hour before to make sure you wouldn't miss your flight.

In her back jean pocket, Evan felt her phone vibrate. Of course, the text wasn't from Ryan; the man was driving after all.

 It was from Shane.

Shane: Ryan wanted me to tell you that we're three minutes away

 Shane:  ; )

She hadn't given Shane her number, but she wasn't exactly surprised. Whether he got her number from Ryan or through some other method, it didn't matter at that moment. What did was that her ride would be there in three minutes.

 Evan: thanks

——

Like Shane had said, Ryan was there in almost exactly three minutes. The car pulled up to the curb as the passenger side window rolled down, and, of course, the person who stuck his smug face out was none other than Shane Madej.

 "Did someone call a taxi?"

 She scowled at him.

"What? Something I said?" He stuck his tongue out at her. Real mature. He turned his head back into the car as Ryan said something to him. "Ryan says he'll kick me out of the car if I don't help you. So, need any help?"
