In his island lair, Eggman struts to the door, ready to leave for a lavish vacation. Mombot finishes packing his suitcase while he poses for the camera so Orbot can commemorate.

"Get my good side. I wanna document every aspect of this trip, starting from how dashing I looked on my way out the door."

Orbot beams.

"These'll be fantastic photos. I don't think you've ever looked quite so evil!"

Cubot agrees.

"Your first real victory! We gotta save this moment in time forever!"

Mombot dotes.

"You took down a hero from the future! With Silver gone, think of the villains who will triumph years from now. Boy, I couldn't be more impressed than if you had defeated Sonic himself!"

"He's next on the agenda but for now, toodles, Mombot! Come on Orbot, Cubot. Let's go!"

Dr. Eggman's service robots carry his bags for him as they proudly stride out the door, with Mombot lovingly waving goodbye.

"Don't forget to bring me back a snow globe!" Mombot calls out as they leave.

Elsewhere, in another dimension, twenty years in the future, a burning city crumbles to the ground. Silver tries to rescue civilians with his powers. Wait a second! Silver? Yes, Silver. Or at least, another version of him, one... that's still alive.

A generator is about to blow. He soars in the air and uses his psychokinesis to contain and pause the explosion. As soon as everyone's safe, he intends to Chaos Control to escape.

"As long as I don't move when I Chaos Control, I'll avoid getting incinerated," he tells himself.

But an aerial robot distracts him by tapping his shoulder... then punching him in the face.

Unintentionally, he releases the rumbling generator.

Nearby, Rouge the Bat watches this kerfuffle and decides, after twenty years of hiding, that it's finally time to emerge.

She flies to him. The generator explodes. Silver miscalculates Chaos Control by a few seconds. The explosion engulfs them as she grabs him in knick of time.

WARP. SWOOSH. POOF.

"Looks like it worked!"

Rouge finds herself in the snow, still shielding Silver, who is definitely in need of a doctor's attention.

"Silver?"

She, on the other hand, feels like a million bucks, which is odd. She should be just as hurt as him.

"Silver?"

Silver is dazed. Her winged silhouette plus the glistening sunset, ice, snow and sparkle, is she...

"An angel? Oh great, now I'm dead." Sigh. To her concern, he then passes out.

Rouge gasps.

"Oh no you're not!"

She scoops him up, ascends into the sky, and scopes out a ski resort in the near distance.

"That'll do."

And with that, she fervently heads that way.
