A/N The character does age, there will be a larger time skip at the end of Part 3. :) (had to update the time skip sorry)
The stars were out tonight, Meteor City was the city for the outcast who had nowhere else to go, for the ones who had been abandoned or left behind years ago. It is where anything can be gotten rid of and forgotten, from weapons to corpses and newborn babies. No information about the people from this city appears in any official records or databases, it is home to the most notorious criminal activity. My small fire that had been lit was now burning out. At the age of nine I had lost everything I could have imagined, my mother dumped me here and never came back, I never met my father, and I don't have anyone or anything. I am now fifteen, in a couple of months I will be turning sixteen and repeating my daily schedule over again and again and again. Wake up, find food and a source of water, scavenge for more clothes and resources, don't die. I question everything every night as I drift off wondering if I will even wake up the next day. I need to get out of here fast.

As the run rose, so did I. I decided to start making a meal to eat with the food I had found from yesterdays scavenges. My little trash hut was up higher on a bigger pile of trash, I could see movement from those around me at all times regardless of where I sat. Today, the usual people crept around from bellow, a girl named Machi always came around every so often to say hello and to invite to a 'meeting' that she thought I would be interested in. I gave in for once and said I would go with her. She told me she would come by later to get me before it started, after that she wandered off again and I was left alone once more. As the day went on and the sun started to set I sat and waited for Machi to come around. As a couple minutes passed she had reappeared and asked if i was ready.
We walked in silence for a coupe of moments before she said anything."You've never said your name." She didn't turn to look at me when she said that, instead she kept walking.
I turned my head to study her for a second before I spoke, I rarely spoke to anyone or let my guard down around other people, Machi seemed different though. "Why do you want to know?"
She turned to look at me and stared blankly into my eyes, "He'll want to know. Maybe I could gain an friend in the process too." She looked away.
I started at her confused and almost stopped walking for a moment, "Who is he? And what could you possibly gain from having me as a friend?" I said.
This time Machi had stopped walking and I stopped and turned to face her. "I've seen you in action, I know what you can do, you've already trained yourself and have a powerful nen, we need you on our side so please just tell me your name and come with me."
"It's Rose."
Machi's facial expression never changed as she spoke. "Is that the name they gave you or the one you made up?"
She was right in a sense. I never could recall my real name if I was actually given one, strangers would call me Rose because of the color of my hair so it stuck. I looked off in the distance not wanting to answer. Machi soon started walking again and I followed soon behind her. The rest of the walk was in silence as we headed to this 'meeting'.
We started to come up on a group of people standing around, some were sitting and standing on top of boxes and others were on the ruble of trash mounds. One was standing somewhat away from the other and off in front of all of them. as we approached Machi went up to him.
"This is Rose, she's the one I had told you about before." the boy looked at you and then back to Machi.
A small smirk appeared on his face as he looked down, "Ah, yes, I was hoping she would come along with you." He looked at the group of people who were there, "Please have a seat wherever you want."
Machi stood on a wooden crate while you stood on top of the ruble and looked around at everyone, you had only seen a few of them before but never enough to know who they were or what their name was.
The boy in the suit began to speak. "This is the beginning of the Phantom Troupe. I am the head of the spider and you are the legs. Natural law dictates that the legs must follow wherever the head goes, but this is just the chain of command, it doesn't apply to my life of death. If I happen to die one of you can replace me and there may come a time where a leg has more importance than the head. Make the right call, my orders are priority, however, my life and my death are not. So, what's key is survival of the whole, not the individual. Never forget that."
It seemed as if everyone but me seemed to be 100% sold on what he was saying. What exactly was he trying to do with this Troupe? Before I could say anything he spoke again.
"There will need to be a total of thirteen of us, the seven of us here will have to do for now. I will be #0 always, once we acquire the total of thirteen you will be given a number, however, we will all be required to have a tattoo with our number wherever you please." Just like that, he started to walk off leaving the rest of us.
I turned to face Machi, "Who was he?" I asked
She looked at me, "He goes by the name of Chrollo Lucilfer, you can refer to him as Boss though, that is if you want to be in." She looked away and walked over to another boy to talk leaving me alone.
A women with a blonde bob started to speak breaking me out of my trance. "You seem like you don't know if you want do it, I can tell just by looking at you that you'll fit in nicely. I'm Pakunoda, you can call me Paku if you'd like."
She came down from the box she was standing on and stood next to me, "I still don't fully understand what exactly it is that this group is supposed to be or do." I said
"The goal is for the Phantom Troupe to grow and become a world-renowned gang of thieves for the most part, we strive for a class-A bounty on all of our heads. Don't think on it too long."

In the next few weeks the Troupe attracted more members that had completed the total amount needed. Chrollo had ordered a meeting the next day to go over the numbers and how everything would be playing out for now on. I had been spending more time together with Machi and Paku in the weeks leading up, Feitan had become protective of me like i was his little sister, the rest of the members were still somewhat a mystery to me. The next day when the meeting was set to happen I strolled along with the two girls and talked about random things along the way. The two of us had also trained with one another to see if we would be able to outrank one another when it came to seeing who had a better number. We soon arrived to find everyone sitting around waiting for Chrollo to start.
"As you all may know by now we have thirteen of us. I am the head and you all are the legs. The legs are equal in ranking and decisional power, the number you are given has nothing to do with a rank so you will never outrank one another. There will be no clashing with one another, if it comes to be where two individuals cannot solve a issue, then the coin tossing will happen." Chrollo pulled out a golden coin with a spider on the front and a web on the back. "As always I am #0, the order is as follows. Nobunaga, Feitan, Machi, Rose, Phinks, Pakunoda, Franklin, Shizuku, Shalnark, Bonolenov, and Kortopi. The spider tattoo with your number insides represents us and you as a whole, place it wherever you'd like." Chrollo began to walk off again, a signal to conclude the meeting. Everyone began to disperse leaving me, Machi, Paku, and Feitan by ourselves.
