Part 4

A sound of a bell started to ring. Everyone had grown silent and looked toward where the sound was coming from. The wall blocking the man from the rest of us slid up revealing him. My badge was #2, I had resorted to wearing a mask that only revealed my eyes with the rest of the body covered in black and red gear. I didn't want to be recognized in the slightest bit. Then again, I did just run away from the Zoldyck Estate, they had to out looking for me. The thought of it made me shiver. After years of convincing Kikyo to let me go on a mission she finally let me, I finished my mission and disappeared. I'm now on day 5 since I left. Getting a hunter license will help me get further away from the Zoldycks while erasing my existence from the data bases.

"I apologize for the wait. The registration period for Hunter Exam applicants has ended. The Hunter Exam will now begin!"

Some of the applicants tensed up, others seemed excited.

"A final word of caution, if you lack the necessary ability or if you're unlucky, you will end up seriously injured or even dead. Those who accept the risks, please follow me. Otherwise, please exit via the elevator behind you."

No one left or made a move.

"Very well. All 404 applicants will participate in the First Phase." With that, he started to walk, taking rather awkwardly large steps. However, the walking soon starting into running. The man spoke again. "I've neglected to introduce myself. I am Satotz, your examiner for the First Phase of the exam. I shall lead you to the Second Phase.

A bald headed man who proclaimed to be that of a ninja, #294, spoke up this time. "Second Phase? What about the First Phase?"

Satotz responded. "It's already commenced."

Everyone started whispering and talking to one another saying things like, 'this is part of the test?' 'it's already commenced?'

"You must follow me to the Second Phase. This is the exam's First Phase."

294 spoke again. "Follow you? That's it?"

"Yes. I cannot tell you where or when you must arrive. You just need to follow me."

It's now been two hours since we first started running. I watched many fall and drop out. This tunnel felt as if it was never ending. I heard a man near the back yelling talking about a kid needing to show some respect to the Hunter Exam. When the boy spoke it caught my attention, it sounded too familiar. I kept looking straight.

"Why are you using a skateboard? That's cheating."

It was Killua. We never really had a relationship with one another but I always heard him saying things to Canary about taking this years Hunter Exam for the fun of it. I couldn't let him know I was here, I wasn't sure if he would rat me out of not. I decided to listen in on the conversation.

"How?"

" 'How?'! This is an endurance test!"

A new voice appeared, he sounded young like Killua. "No it isn't."

The man seemed confused but the boy was right. This wasn't an endurance test. "Huh? Gon what are you saying?" Gon?

"The examiner only said to follow him."

"Whose side are you on, huh?!"

Gon and Killua were now talking to one another.

"Hey, how old are you?"

"I'm twelve years old." 'The same as Killua' I thought.

"Guess I'll run too." I smiled under my mask.
