~Chapter 1~

Layla's POV

It's the regular Saturday morning, I get up and get dressed, ready to go to work. I work in the cafe down the street at 10 am this morning, I've been working there for a year now because I'm saving money for college, because my mum said she wasn't going to pay for it... So generous. Although I'm not sure if I wanted to go to college, I have the grades to do anything I want but still.

I put a bit of mascara and lip gloss, and put my thick black rimed glasses on. Aka nerd glasses. I brush my chestnut brown shoulder length hair, until it's silky smooth. I walk downstairs grab my keys and head out the door.

I arrived at the cafe in roughly 5 minutes, I walk behind the counter and put on my apron. I patiently wait for people to take there order's.

The door jingled indicating that someone has come in, three girls walk in. Monica, Daniella and Melissa. Those girls have been my friends since year 1, yeah we go way back but they're great. They come up to me and say hi and order there food and drinks and I told them they should be ready soon. They pay me and then find a table to sit down at.

After there food was done, I brought it over to them. They thanked me and continued their previous conversation. I made my way back behind the counter, I pulled my phone out and started playing Harry Potter Lego. As the door jingled again I drew my attention from the phone and saw his beautiful blue eyes, the same ones I used to get lost in. At the door is my worst enemy, my nemesis, the person who I loathe so much. It's the one and only Blake Conners. That jerk... If only I could punch him in the face.... Unfortunately I can't because I'm working, and I don't want to get fired.

Am I dreaming? Has this day finally come? To where I'd see this man again? Well obviously it has. To be honest, I don't want to talk to him, we didn't really end on good terms. I think this dream just turned into a pretty horrible nightmare.

I pick up my phone from the counter and open my messages with Monica.

'Mon, he's back! What do I do?' - Layla

'That's awkward.....' - Moni

'Ok here's what you do, pretend you don't remember him!'- Moni

'That won't work' - Layla

'Ok, ok. You've changed a lot since you last saw each other, maybe he won't recognise you.'- Moni

'Ok.'- Layla

'You'll be fine.'- Moni

'Thanks, I'll talk to you later.'- Layla

It took just a couple of minutes for us to send those texts. I stuff my phone into my pocket, and looked through my big black nerdy glasses. By then he's standing at the counter figuring out what his going to order. He's just a customer, he's just a customer I kept repeating in my head. "Hi my name is Layla, what can I get you?" I said in an overly sickly sweet tone, cough cough jerk cough, did anyone else hear that?

"I will have the..." He started talking, but stopped when he saw my face, he was staring at me as if he was trying to remember who I was. "Layla, is that you." He paused again, I shifted my eyes a little, starting to feel uncomfortable around him. I knew I looked into his eyes I wouldn't be able to look away.

"Layla is my name, and you are?" I asked nervously, hoping he wouldn't catch on. "You look beautiful Layla, then again you always did." His deep voice said. "What would you like to order." I asked avoiding all other conversation.

"You haven't changed much have you, I still make you nervous don't i?" He chuckled.

"No not nervous, just trying to do my job. Now if you excuse me, while you think about what you want I'll be serving people's food." I say bitterly. I pick up table 3's food and drink and walked over, as soon as he saw me properly I could feel stares burning into my back.

"Figured out what you want yet." I say with a clear annoyance in my tone. "Yep, I'll have an iced coffee, pancakes and you." He said rather pleased with himself, please he really thinks I haven't heard that before. "Ok, you food will be ready soon, and don't even think about it." I grumbled.

"What do you mean, don't even think about it, what we had was special." He said sounding rather 'hurt' I knew he was mocking what I said those four years ago. "Well all you are to me now is the bastard that broke my heart, slept with a shank, telling me I wasn't good enough and then left?" I say bitterly. I left him speechless, as if he didn't know what to say. "Yeah, that's what I thought so just leave me alone. Just stay away from me, because I certainly don't want to see you." After I said that I turned around, and headed for the back room. Not wanting to deal with Blake's bull crap.

Blake's POV

Wow, that was the first time a girl has rejected me, that was a good blow to my ego. I look around and see a table with three girls eating their food. I walked over to them and turned on the good old Blake Conner charm.

"Hello Layla's friends, how are you this fine morning." I chirp. Sitting next to the blonde, which was Monica?

"We don't want to talk to you, your the asshole that cheated on and then broke up with Layla for no good reason." Growled Melissa. "Wait guys, lets find out what he wants first." Monica said almost instantly.

"Thanks Monica, just want to ask a question." I say causally.

"Yes Layla is single, and no we're not helping you" Melissa bluntly stated.

"Ok thanks, and I don't need any help." I mumbled. All three girls looked at each then me and bursted out laughing.

"You'd need all the help you can get." Daniella said.

"Why would you say that, your sweet friend Layla and I have history together I think I know what's she's like."

"People change, because of you she doesn't trust anyone of the male population that isn't her step dad, brother and Luke, nick and Harry." Daniella sneers, I remember her friends a lot nicer than this.

"Why?"

"Because of you, you cheated on her, broke with her without an explanation and left. Do realise how much you hurt her, she trusted you and you just left." Moni said.

"Urgghh, I didn't cheat on her." I said, which caused their heads to snap up

"My friends played a prank on me, I fell asleep and some girls laid next to me and they took photos and posted it on the web." Melissa looked at me and sighed.

"He's telling the truth guys."

"I was leaving for California in two days, Layla must've seen the photos on Facebook, she was so upset and I didn't know why and then she showed me the photos, and to make it easier I just broke it off. So don't tell me in just affected her." I say.

"Sounds like Layla." 'Moni mumbled.

"Blake if you do want to start things up again, you need to tell her truth. She may be stubborn but she'll come around. And don't hurt her again." Daniella says. They all get up to leave and wave good bye, I stared at my plate, which was now empty. I left change in the tip jar and went outside, where I would wait.

I needed to tell her the truth, and I want her to be with me again.
