The trees gently swayed in the wind as Y/N looked out in the distance as she quietly kept clicking on her pen. It was a Friday, so everyone was eager with anticipation to leave the loud, noisy classroom and spend the weekend in the warm comfort of her home, then again, she knew she wouldn't survive that long. The symptoms had begun two months ago, but she never was able to tell anyone.

Y/N held a box of chocolates, specifically Todoroki's favourite, and an assortment of flowers, both her's and Todoroki's favourite. Planning for one month had finally lead to this. The speech planning, the buying of the gifts and building up the confidence. The bell rang as everyone slowly began packing up. Todoroki had actually bolted towards the front of the classroom though as he held up his hands and stood on a table. "Everyone, I have an announcement to make! I just wanted to say that this girl has been on my mind constantly since the day I joined this school. She's smart, funny, kind and everything a guy could want.".

Y/N's breath became more hitched as she hoped that this was her. She knew that this description sounded nothing like her but still prayed. "So please, Momo be my girlfriend.". Her heart stopped. The room tensed up. Girls squealing. Boys clapping. And the couple. The perfect couple. She should have known. She quickly ran out, straight back to her house, not looking back one second. As tears stained her cheeks. She wasn't going to ruin this relationship though. As long as they were happy. But what about her?

Looking out at the window, she felt the same sharp pain in her chest. The one she had felt for the last few days. But it suddenly turned shaper, and instead of her stinging chest, her throat also burned. She felt the soft and metallic feeling of blood and that same thing that she felt cursed with as she fell off her chair.

The first incident happened a few days after Todoroki's relationship started. Y/N had tried everything. She watched her favourite movies, ate her favourite ice cream and even slept to try and get him off her mind, but to no avail. While bing watching OHSHC for the third time, she suddenly had a crazed coughing fit. The air in her lungs felt like it was replaced with something, but she wasn't sure what. Finally, the coughing fit stopped. On the bed, there lay splatters of blood, with chlorophyll and a Rose, specifically Todoroki's favourite type of flower, with half being white, while the other was red.

She felt as if she was gasping for air, as she constantly was now on the floor. There lay, piles among piles of the familiar rose, and her blood, now a mixture of it's normal dark red, but a vibrant green that shocked the teachers. Aizawa instantly ran up to her as he realised what was happening all to clearly. He immediately ran with Y/N outside to the field, the class following right behind unsure of the situation. She was able to muster up the words," Mr Aizawa, it's too late, I'm already at the last stage no one can save me, not even him." Using up all the energy she had, she gently raised her hand towards...

Hanahaki Disease. After spending a while on the internet, she finally found what the internet had diagnosed her with. Hanahaki Disease. A Japanese myth where one-sided love can lead to constant coughing and sputtering of flowers representing the one they love. It can, however, be treated if all memory is wiped of the former love interest or if the one-sided love can become a whole. If untreated, the infected person will turn into a beautiful tree that will represent the love in the form of the flowers for the next few centuries marvelled upon by those who pass by it. It is, however, an excruitiaiting process. She sighed as she felt tears brimming at her eyes. She didn't want to forget him but didn't want to ruin his happiness so instantly decided her choice.

Todoroki instantly ran up to her, his heterochromatic eyes flooding with tears. "Please, don't go Y/N. Please, I love you so so so much. I and Momo had broken up after a while because she didn't feel right with me.". He constantly left kisses all over her tear-soaked face as he wished for her to get out of this.

Unlike the stories though, the love was still only one-sided. She knew he didn't mean the words, and even if he did, it was too late, for she was far gone as well as her love. Her eyes turned a pasty white as her body soon became limp. Her breathing stopped and in just the right time, Aizawa had moved Todoroki away as they all witnessed the once fragile body suddenly erupt with the beautiful flowers and into a huge tree.

No one was able to look in wonder though as Todoroki fell to the floor. He really did love her
