chapter 12

I was in pure bliss sitting on the figurehead of Dragons ship, the wind whipped misty ocean air onto my face and threw my hair. If we weren't going so fast I'd jump right in.

"Nova this map is incredible, where did you get it?" I shrugged at Dragon not wanting to explain. We were already fast approaching laws ship, we would be on top of him in the next ten minutes.

"So once we get Laws help, we'll head straight for the base to rescue your friends. The plan is as Dimitri said I'll fly above the clouds and dive in the base, sneaking to the door on the lowest level and open it for the rest of you."  Dimitri grumbled a response but it was overshadowed by the ocean ricing beside the ship, and Laws sub emerging.

"Well speak of the devil" Dragon laughed. Law walked out of the sub his crew behind him guns ready and scanned the ship his eyes widened then narrowed when they reached Dragon, but when they landed on me he gave a confused look but waved his crew to stand down.

"Nova, what a surprise."

"well, you know me always up for a good surprise." I hopped off the dragon at the front of the ship and walk towards law. "why don't you come abroad, we have a favour to ask you?"

"ha, a favour and what per-say makes you think I will help?" He still wouldn't board the ship.

"comen decency?" I asked tilting my head. Beside me, Dimitri scoffed and glared at Law.

Law glaring right-back said "if it were anyone else I wouldn't even hear them out." he hesitantly boarded the ship and I began telling him the plan.

"your crew wouldn't even need to fight, just help get Dragons people to the door."

"and you're going to infiltrate the base all by yourself?" Law looked at me as if I could barely defend myself let alone complete this task.

"she's more than capable, Trafalgar ." Dimitri may worry but he knows my strength and he obviously doesn't like Law. They both continue to glare at each other.

"don't worry Trafalgar Law, Nova can do this. she's way stronger than she looks." the tension between the two would have kept growing if sabo hadn't stepped in.

with a deep sigh Law agreed "fine, I'm coming along with you."

"out of the question." Dimitri shot down the idea.

"you have no say in it. Either I go with her or no sub."

"Don't I get a say?" I crossed my arms trying to look upset, though I wasn't.

"do you think you can even fly with someone?" Dragon asked

"yeah, that's not a problem but-"

"Then it's settled." Law interrupted me. "how long till we arrive?"

"we'll be there by first light" sabo was looking at my map intently. Dimitri let out a huff but didn't say anything else.

it's way too early, but I'm wide awake... Dimitri threw cold water at me. we couldn't see the base but the map said it wasn't far. Dragon, Sabo, and Dimitri bored the sub along with half Laws crew.

"Alright, Law let's go kick some ass." I flung out my wings dramatically

"you do remember this is a stealth mission right?" I rolled my eyes

"duh, I'm just being dramatic." I wrapped my arms around his waist like a hug, he immediately tensed. "up, up and away!"

We shot up into the sky before Law could question me. I know I could have just got him to wait in my pocket dimension but this is way more fun.

once we were above the clouds, the sun rose, filling the sky with rich oranges and purples. I just hovered for second basking in the beauty before me.

"How can you tell where the base is?" Law asked pulling from the view.

"oh, um..."

with a sigh, Law pulled out a log pose. it didn't take us long to reach our destination, it was surrounded by jagged cliffs, with the base slap dab in the middle. it would have been very difficult to get in if you couldn't fly, I see why they needed me so bad.

we landed smoothly on one of the towers not making a sound.

"Now we just need to find our way to the basement" I pulled out my poison dagger, better to have smaller weapons.

"where did you get that from?"

"It's a secret" I whispered with a cheeky smile, the exasperated look he gave me said he didn't believe me but at least he wasn't asking anything else.

I need to keep a weapon holster on me, I'm drawing too much attention.

"Hey who are you?!" The unlucky marine was dead before I could say a thing.

" We need to get going" his hand was so much larger than mine as he dragged me down the stairs.

We ended up only encountering 2 other marines, who were easily taken care of.

"We're here" we slipped into a room with the walls lined with cells, I spotted koala but neither law nor I  saw it coming when sea-prison cuff clamped over our wrists.

"Fuck" his panic was barely visible behind his poker face.

"Well well well" a man I didn't recognize came from the shadows.

"What a lucky day. I knew someone would come for those pathetic wimps but to get a couple of pirates? Your beautiful too, Man am I lucky" hands the size of my entire back lifted me, I felt like a doll.

"Put her down!" Law looked angry strangely enough.
The man just pushed law into the cell with the ones we had come to rescue.

"I'll deal with you later, Fist my prize." A sickening pit formed in my stomach at his words. this was not going to plan.

"Leave her be!" Laws protests faded as I was carried away.

Alone with the sickening man I summoned my lava dagger easily melting the cuffs i pried them apart, it burned but I kept my face blank. with the stone still red and hot I smashed the cuffs into the sides of his head. his screams would definitely alert the other marines, so I ran as soon as my feet hit the ground.

I nearly missed the corner my feet skidded across the ground, law and the other's cell weren't too far into the room.

"ok stealth mission over, 'get the hell out of here' mission is a go." my dagger made quick work of the bars and everyone's cuffs.

"How did you get away from the marines? your sea prison cuff should have cut off your powers."

"magic?" law wasn't buying it but there wasn't time to explain. thankfully he seemed to get that because he started towards the exit.

we arrived at a double-sealed door.

"how do we let them know?" koala seemed shaken

"ill go out and you let the water in then ill swim out and alert the sub." Law slammed his hands above my head as I started opening the first door.

"I don't know how you got out of the sea stone or what kind of devil fruit you have but if you go out there into the ocean you will die. besides, I have a communication snail." if it wasn't such an intense moment I would have swooned at the way he was towering over me, oh hell who am I kidding I'm totally swooning.

"oh.." I rubbed my hand across his stubbly jaw. far too caught up in the moment 'dang I wonder how that would feel against my face' hearing guards coming I mentally shook the thoughts away, I slipped under his arm and ran down the hall yelling behind me, "ok you call them and ill hold off the guards." my face was flushed a bright crimson.
