Just to let you know, I couldn't wait to publish this. So I'm publishing the first chapter today, and I'll post the next one on Monday.

"Ruby! Where are you?" My dad, Rubens called.
In my bedroom, I thought. And I was.
Staring in my mirror, I was trying to make a decision - either princess or pirate. I had a beautiful dress, white with golden leaves dripping down from it. Then I had rags, pirate rags. But they weren't as fancy as the dress. I decided to put on my dress.
I stumbled downstairs, almost falling over the lace at the edges of the dress. A few pirates looked at me, some of them laughed. My dad looked down at my 4 year old self.
"A dress?" My dad asked me, "I thought you hated princesses?"
"But I don't!" I replied. I twirled my dress around, hoping my dad would like it. "Do you like it?" I questioned.
I knew my dad hated the idea of me being a princess, but he would never crush my dreams. He told me I was the prettiest princess ever, and that made me happy to know. I ran back upstairs to play more princess games with my toys, when something happened
My hands felt a little cold, but that didn't bother me. A spider did. It looked at me with that look. I was tempted to tell my dad, but I didn't. I just stared at it, getting more worried.
It moved.
I backed away, but slipped and fell on the floor. The floor was cold. I looked down at it.
There was ice.
Ice? I thought, why is there ice on the ground?
I got up, holding the wall hoping I wouldn't slip. The wall turned into ice, too
I stared at my hands in horror for a minute, until realising how serious this power was. I concentrated hard, and snow flourished from my hand. I threw the ice up at my ceiling, and it started snowing in my room
I had to show my dad.
I ran downstairs, almost falling from my dress.
"Daddy! You're never going to guess what I can do!" I said, running into the room he was in. No one was there, which was good.
"Magic?" He guessed. He would've thought magic, because of me being a princess. Yes, it was magic. But serious.
I brought out my hands and spun one around the other. A snowflake suddenly appeared. My dad raised an eyebrow. I threw the snowflake above my head. My dad jumped. I threw my hands again, and icicles appeared on the floor.
"What? How is that even possible?!" Rubens, my shocked father, gasped in horror at what he was seeing.
I have no idea, I thought to myself.
And I was never going to hear the end of this.
After an entire year of using my powers, pirates started getting jealous of me. And one of them even threatened to kill me. I never believed that they would try to kill a 5 year old, but they did try.
"You better give me your powers," the raggy pirate snapped at me, the tip of his sword in my face, "or you'll never see light ever again!"
I didn't know how to even give him my powers. I wanted to surrender, but I hesitated. "Never!"
His sword swung up, and I knew it was only a matter of time before he slashed his sword at my throat. I needed to do something. I quickly dodged his attack, sliding across ice I had made. He swung his sword again at me, but I dodged it again. I had to think fast, or this pirate was going to kill me at a young age. I wouldn't have had any friends or anything. He slashed his sword at me one more time, but I grabbed his sword just in time.
He froze. His whole body stopped. A network of white crystals formed on his cheeks and face. When he breathed, white puffs cane out of his blue lips and they hung in the air.
I had frozen him. He was ice.
My father had came back from adventuring just at that moment, only to see outside, a frozen pirate and his daughter.
That night, my bed felt cold. Was I turning it to ice? I checked. It wasn't frosty in the slightest. I lay in my bed, thinking about what I had done. My eyes slowly closed. And I drifted to a dream.

The next day I woke up by my dads knocking. My head hurt slightly.
"Good morning," my dad said, smiling warmly. "You feeling okay?"
"Yes, but my head hurts.." I replied, holding my head. He felt my head. My dad said it felt warm.
Weird, my whole body felt warm. But it always felt like that.
"So, you remember what happened with that pirate yesterday?" My dad asked me, "he's okay. There's nothing to worry about. It wasn't your fault."
I was very confused. What is he talking about? I thought. "I don't know what's going on."
My dad paused for a moment, looking everywhere but me. Then he looked back at me. "Ah, nevermind," he said, "you ready to learn how to be a pirate?"
That brought my spirits back. "Yes, of course!" I said happily, jumping up.
But I still couldn't work out what he meant by something happening to a pirate. What did he mean? Did I forget something that happened? Was it an event that was erased from my mind? My dad did mention that it wasn't my fault, but what did he mean by that? Did I have a fight that ended badly? Did I have some kind of power? I really can't remember a thing. All I could remember was me pretending to be a princess. Yuck. I'd rather be a pirate.
~
I still think about what my father said to me that day.
I'm always looking back at it, trying to figure out what he meant by it. Sometimes my friends would be talking to me and I would be thinking about those words that my father said to me.
I tell my friends all the time, but Alex always says: "it was years ago, Ruby. Try to forget about it."
But I can't. I would ask my dad, but he died from drowning. But there must be something I can find out about what he said.
Twinkle said she had an announcement - we were allowed to stay at the fairy castle for 2 days.
