chapter eleven – the Preston's, Eastview parties and spaghetti

I guess things have changed a lot since I met Tommy that day in the library. I mean it's only been two months but some how my ice queen reputation has slowly melted away and I feel like I'm getting back to my old self.

All because of some jerk that thought I was a stuck up cheerleader.

Tommy and I have gotten close this past month. And it both excites and scares me. Because while I enjoy his company, I don't enjoy running into Chris and Ryan so much.

It's been a month since that rainy football game and Tommy and I seem to have gotten closer. And by closer I mean he doesn't glare at me when I try to hang out with him at school.

I closed my locker and made my down the hall with Jesse on my tail to find Kris. I know she's around here somewhere.

"Mar!" I heard her yell and I found her standing with Vincent at his locker.

They confuse me. Just yesterday I had two separate conversations with the both of them about the same thing. Their massive crushes on each other. Both were terrified of how to tell the other despite the fact that they act like a couple already.

"Hey Kris. Hey Vincent" I raised my eyebrows at both of them and they both shot me a glare.

"Hey Mariah" I glanced over at Benjamin Prescott and smiled towards him. His brown hair was stuffed into that maroon beanie, as always.

"Hey Benji" He smiled at my childhood nickname for him. I did cheer at the community center he played hockey at so we were pretty close. "How have you been?"

"Eh. Pretty lonely I guess" Benjamin shrugs and I nod. I know how that feels.

"He's thinking about talking to Sage Preston" Tommy appeared by his best friends side.

"Doesn't the Preston family hate yours?" Kris asked.

"I saw Mrs. Preston try to choke your Mom with a streamer last year at the St. Patrick's Day parade bro" Vincent commented making Benjamin wave his hand.

"That's football drama. Sage and I are hockey" Benjamin smiled and I felt my old hopeless romantic self appear.

"Aww" I cooed. "I love, love" I sighed dramatically.

"You're so gross" Tommy scoffed at his best friend as he walked away. "What happened to being single together?"

Benjamin turned on his heels and shot finger guns at Tommy. "You're acting like you didn't cancel our ice time so you could hang out with Mariah tonight"

My cheeks flared at Benjamin's comment. Well this just got awkward.

"I hate writing this crap" Tommy huffed and threw the pencil down on my dining room table.

Today we were working on backstories for hour 4 main characters and we decided to do it at my house since Tommy said that Ryan was throwing a party. Dad was working late in Eastview and Cameron went up to his room around 6:00pm and I haven't seen him since. So I assume he fell asleep since it's now 10pm and he's not down here rummaging for food.

"Why?" I laughed. "I enjoy creating stories for people. It's like playing god"

"Yeah, okay psychopath" Tommy scowled. "I'm not into all this artsy crap. I was supposed to have weight lifting but I have all of my P.E credits already"

I shrug and continue brainstorming idea's for our main character, Tammi.

"Mariahh I'm borrred" Tommy whined and I glanced up at him.
