Trivean's POV

I walked through the halls of the air ship, taking note of everything there. The wooden floor creaked under the weight of my armor, Starfallen held firm at my side, my cloak held firm around my neck, the air...

"Trivean," said a voice. I quickly turned around, drawing my blade and holding it firm. Behind me stood Niol Emersoul, my closest friend and partner for the assault. He was dressed in a long dark purple cloak with a steel breast plate under his robes, which was my choice. He had a long pair of chain mail and black cloth pants and a long brown leather satchel around his chest. Around his neck was a thing steel chain holding the silver and sapphire charm that held Xero's soul.

I sighed a heavy breath and lowered my blade, lowering my head and ears. "Sorry, you spooked me," I said reluctantly.

"Hey, hey, relax," said Niol with his usual charming smile. "I get it, we're all on edge here. Just wanted to make sure that you were good before we start. Here, your cloak if a bit off." He slowly reached up to the top button of the cloak, fixing and straightening it on me. I stood there, emotionless and still. My metal and mail hid my body, prepared to save my life at any time, and this time my dignity.

I still don't know how it happened, but it did. My best friend, my greatest ally, and the most powerful mage ever, all in one. Yet he does not abuse his power, he does not show the true power that he wields. I don't know why, but I fear he knows that if he did I would stop him. I share a similar thought. He would strike me down and stop me long before I could truly turn evil if I were too.

"There, all done," said Niol as he took a step back, admiring the work.

"You are aware I'm leaving my cloak on the ship when we attack. It will likely just get in the way," I said, trying to avoid the awkwardness in my face. He always managed to bring out these odd feelings in me, I yet don't know why.

"Oh, uh, sorry," said Niol, flattening his ears and looking away from me. "Um... Oh, yeah, I do have a surprised for you. Close your eyes and hold out your hand." I looked back up at him, seeing that he took no time in perking back up. I followed his orders reluctantly, holding out my left hand.

I felt something slide onto it, adding weight and almost pulling it to the ground. I looked down at his, seeing a large metal shield now fastened to it. It was a large curved diamond style made out of a black metal with a red paint on the front minus some parts that made the symbol of the Fur Guards, our little band of fighters.

"You know I normally don't fight with a shield," I said, feeling the weight of it on my arm.

"And I don't with armor, but here we are," said Niol sternly.

"...So, you enchanted this or...?" I asked, avoiding the question.

"It's resistant to magic, yes, of course..."

"You two done talking?" Asked Frotj as he walked out into the hallway. He was covered head to toe in his dark leather armor and cloak with his long bow on his back, a set of trick arrows on his belt with two daggers, and a series of poisons on his bandolier.

"We have a battle plan to discuss," said Lurko. He was wearing a set of chain and plate mail armor with a long black cloak with our groups' symbol in red on the front again. His short sword was on his back and a staff in his other hand.

"Didn't we already go over it?" Asked Dermo as him and Soma came in from the outside. He was wearing his long black robes with gold trim and black boots. He had a pouch full of books on his hips with on in his hands.
