Just another day in Inkopalis. Like any other day. Like every day. Well, sorta.

You were just another male Inkling, though you were different at the same time. You were much shorter than other Inklings your age. Even in your squid form, you were always smaller than everyone else.

Turf war was hard for you so you rarely played it. The weapons were too big for you and some of the platforms were too high up for you to reach. Nothing was easy for you.

You always preferred to stay in your squid form whenever you could. It made you feel at least a bit better since it was harder to tell that you were shorter that way.

You didn't have many friends. Everyone either ignored you, mistook you for a child, or made fun of you. All, except one person. Headsets.

She had always been kind to you ever since the day you had run into her for the first time in the Plaza. You didn't know too much about her, but you didn't care.

"Y/N! Y/N over here!" You heard your friend calling out to you as she ran over to the bench you were sitting on.

She had her headsets on, like always and had her pink tentacles down like usual. She wore a black inky rider that was open and a white tank top under it, along with navy blue pants. She also had her bag with her and she had her old brown boots on. Her golden locket was always around her neck, and her bright smile was on her face like always. Her red eyes met yours and you smiled back at your friend.

"Hey, H!" You greeted, waving slightly as she stopped in front of you, panting slightly. She always ran whenever you met up with her. You hadn't ever been to her house before so you just assumed it was far.

"Heya. So, today's my turn to take you somewhere, right?" She said, sounding excited.

"Oh yeah. Forgot about that." It was something you guys would do every Friday. You would take turns choosing a place to go to for the day to hang out. Last week, you had taken her to Wahoo World for the day. You wondered where she would take you.

"Hehe. I know you'll love it!" She smiled and you couldn't help but blush a bit. Her warm and gentle smile made you happy every time you saw it. "Come on. Turn into a squid so I can take you."

You nodded and did what you were told, turning into a purple squid and flopping onto the bench. She picked you up and held you in her arms like she always did. You liked it when she held you close, it made you feel safer.

She started to walk and you could hear the music she was listening to. The Calamari Inkantation. Strange. She seemed to always be listening to it around the exact same time. Wonder why....

She kept going until you got to the train. She got on and sat on one of the seats, still holding you close to her chest. She stared at the window and you looked up at her.

She seemed to be thinking of something but you had no idea what. Whenever she thought, she looked...sad. For some reason. But whenever you asked, she always said the same thing. 'I'm fine. I swear. Don't worry about it.' Her words would repeat in your mind a few times every time she said them. You know it was a lie. You knew her better then that.

You soon arrived at your destination and she blocked your eyes before you could see where you were.

"Hehe. No looking~ it's a surprise!" She said as she walked. You could tell you were going up after a bit and turned every few steps.

"Ok, now you can look." She uncovered your eyes, letting you see the whole of Moray Towers. You knew this was her favourite map, but why did she bring you here?

"We've been here before. Why did you chose Moray Towers?" You asked, looking up at her.

"Cause there is one thing you haven't seen here before." She sat down on the ledge, you still in her arms, and pointed at something. You looked and saw that she was pointing at the sun set. It was beautiful next to Moray Towers and you just stared at it.

"It's...breath taking." You said, not looking away from the sight in front of you.

"Yeah....I come up here a lot just to watch it. Honestly, before coming to Inkopalis, I hadn't seen it many times before." She admitted. This wasn't a new thing for her to say. She would sometimes reference things about before she came to Inkopalis, but never said much about it.

"...Hey, Headsets?"

"Yeah?"

"Can I ask you something?" You asked hesitantly. You knew this wasn't a good idea, but you couldn't resist your curiosity.

"You just did, but sure. Go right ahead."  She replied in her normal, calmed tone.

"...Where exactly did you live before coming here? Why are you always listening to the Inkantation? Who...exactly are you? I've told you so much about myself, but you've said next to nothing about yourself. I...want to know more about you, H." You watched as her expression changed. She looked sad.

"....That was more than one question, but you got a point. We've known each other for a while now. You deserve the truth." You listened to her as she started to tell her story.

She explained that she was an Octoling and that she had escaped from DJ Octavio after he had been doing experiments on her because of a rare ability she possessed called 'The Ink Control Ability'. She didn't know her real name, age or anything about her family, or even if she had one. She had gone threw hell and didn't technically survive it all.

She burst into tears before finishing her story. She was completely silent as she cried. This was rare for her. For as long as  you've known her, she had never cried once. Not even when she was hurt. She never cried. Never.

You couldn't bare to see her like this, but before you could try to comfort her, she hugged you tightly, holding your small squid body close to her chest.

"I'm sorry.....I should've said something....I just...." Her voice was quiet, though you heard her clearly. Before she could speak again, you returned to your kid form, surprising her a bit.

You know sat on lap, facing her as she hugged you. You gave her a tight hug back and smiled.

"That's enough. I understand. You've been threw tough times, but nothing is going to happen to you. I promise." You gave her a small kiss on the cheek and you watched as her face turned bright red. You laughed at her embarrassment and she smiled at you, wiping away her tears.

"Thanks." Now, it was her time to make you embarrassed, by giving you a small kiss right on your lips. You blushed a lot and she laughed.

After that, you spent the rest of the night talking and joking around. Eventually you both got tired and went to your place for the night.

You cuddled close together on the bed and smiled. You were both happy to be with each other. Even just being next to each other was enough to make you smile.

Over all, it was an amazing night.
