Goodbye?

It was a few weeks since the incident with the octarians and DJ Octavio and life had continued on like normal. Your family went back to their house, you and Headsets still hung out a lot, and now you even had more friends with all the agents.

Everything seemed so perfect. It was amazing. No violence. No fights. No problems. Everything was as it should be. You liked it that way.

You were in the plaza, sitting on a bench, waiting for your friend. It was Friday and today Headsets was going to take you somewhere. She was late, again. You noticed that she was arriving late more often.

You got a text and checked who it was. It was none other than your octoling friend.

'Come to Moray Towers. I need to talk to you.'

'Alright. About what?'

'Just come. I'll explain everything.'

You were confused by her response but shrugged it off. You supper jumped to Moray Towers and got to the top of it like you always did with her. She was there, waiting for you.

"Hey. What's up?" You asked. She turned to you and you saw that she seemed a bit nervous. "Everything ok?"

"...Sorta. I uh...don't know how to say this....I um.....I'm...." She looked at her feet as she spoke. You walked over to her and put your hand on her shoulder.

"Hey I won't be mad or anything. Just tell me."

"....I'm....leaving Inkopalis for a while...." she spoke quietly, but you heard her loud and clear.

"W-what?! Leaving?! Why?!" You Exclaimed. That hadn't been what you had expected. She avoided eye contact.

"I had a big mission coming and I'm not sure how long it will take..."

"...then I'll come with you. I'm an agent too now."

"You can't. It's too dangerous. You're still only starting out. Everything has already been decided. I'm going alone. I'm so sorry Y/N...."

"B-but....you belong here! You can't leave!" You felt tears in your eyes. How could this be happening?! Everything was perfect and now it's all crumbling away. How did this happen?

She hugged you tightly. "I don't want to leave. You've been so nice to me... I want to stay so badly....but I can't....I'm so so sorry... there won't be any way to contact each other. And there's no guarantee when I'll get back...."

You hugged back and felt so bad. You didn't know what to say to her. "...When are you leaving?"

"In a day or two...." she looked down and her words hit you like bullets. That was barley any time!

Before you could saw anything, you felt her soft lips kiss yours. You blushed a crimson red and saw her pink cheeks. You kissed back passionately and closed your eyes.

You both pulled away after a moment, due to you needing to breath. You said nothing as you stared at her and she stared back.

You were both blushing and smiled at each other. You didn't need to say anything. You both already knew what the other felt. The thing you had been feeling since you met. Love.

She hugged you again and you held her close to your body. "No matter how long you're gone, I'll wait for you."

She smiled. "That was cringy, you know?" That made you both laugh and you sat down on the ledge of Moray Towers, looking up at the sky.

Two days passed and you spent every waking moment with her. You wanted the last two days together to be special. You knew she had to leave soon and knew it would hurt a lot, but you know she'd be back. Whenever she gets back.

The day came and you met with her and the other agents at the dock. She was taking a a boat. You were surprised by it.

"You better get back soon, H!" Said 4, hugging her tightly.

"Yeah! And don't you dare forget about us!" Said 1 as she joined the hug.

Each agent gave Headsets a parting gift. Captain Cuddle Fish gave her a golden badge and put it on her jacket. Agent 1 gave her a recorder so she can record whatever she wants while on the mission. 2 gave her a speaker and a radio. 3 gave her a sketch book and some art supplies. 4 got her a target and some darts for when she's bored. And 8 got her a few books.

Once she had put their gifts on the boat, she went to you. She had her hands behind her back. "So uh, I guess this is goodbye for now...."

"Yeah. Here. I got you this." You handed her a small pink music box. She took it and opened it. She listened as the calamari inkantation played softly. She smiled and hugged you.

"I love it. Thank you. I actually also got you something...just as a keepsake or something..." she handed you a golden heart locket that resembled the one she wore. She blushed a bit as she gave it to you and you smiled at her.

"It's perfect. Thank you." You put on the locket and kissed her cheek, causing her to turn red. You giggled at her embarrassment then she pressed her lips onto yours, kissing you.

You kissed back and you both pulled away once you heard the other agents' gasped and squeals. You looked at each other and laughed.

"See you around then?" She asked with a smile. You nodded and she hugged you one last time before getting onto the boat and setting sail. She waved goodbye to you all until neither of you could see each other any more.

She was gone. You're friend. Your lover. You were a bit sad but looked down at the locket she had given you. She'd be back. So it was fine.
