Jasannah walked into the ballroom clutching the dress in her arms. "Mother?" She called out.

Her mother rushed, almost immediately, from around the corner. Her face lit up as soon as she saw the dress her daughter was holding.

"Where'd you find this dress?" Her mother asked, her eyes sparkling with happiness.

"I found it in Dad's study." Jas answered, her voice catching in her throat.

"Oh honey, this was my mothers dress." She said her voice echoing Jasannah's. "It's Perfect." She said smiling, brightly, at her daughter.

For the first time today, Jasannah genuinely smiled. She felt like she actually pleased her mother. She had been very hard to please ever since her father died.

When he died, Jas acquired a new type of Magick; the type that was banned from the Kingdom long ago. Dark Magick. Once Jasannah showed signs of being a dark immortal, her mother made it so she couldn't remember that she even had them. Jasannah knew she was different, no immortal in their Kingdom had wings, let alone black wings; but she did. She resented her mother for making her forget how to use her powers.

"So you're wearing this to the party yes?" Her mother asked, eagerly.

"Yes."

"Wonderful!!" A new voice said

Jasannah turned around to see her Grandmother entering the ballroom.

Jasannah smiled brightly. "Grandma! I've missed you so much." She said throwing her arms around the older woman.

"Hello my gorgeous granddaughter, how have you been?" She asked, hugging her in return.

"I've been okay." She said shrugging her shoulders.

"Just okay?" Her grandmother asked raising an eyebrow.

Jas half smiled, the misery clear in her eyes,  and her grandmother shook her head.

"Well that just won't do, will it? Come, I have something you'll enjoy." Her grandmother said, sending Jas' mother a look and her mother avoided the older woman's gaze.

The older woman pulled Jas out of the ballroom and into the giant kitchen. Lined along the large metal island were cakes of all sizes and colors. Jasannah's face lit up with excitement.

"I knew you'd like this, and since it's your 21st. This is my favorite place in all of the palace." She winked at Jas and held out her arms.

A little elven maid brought out a crystal glass with two cups to match. Within the contents of the glass was a shimmery golden brown colored liquid.

"Your grandfather's best scotch." Her grandmother said with a large smile and she polished off the glass in one gulp.

"Let's make this night one you'll remember!"

Adonis had returned to the old study. He inhaled deeply, allowing his heightened sense take effect. He smiled, both sets of his fangs showing proudly. He keeled down and placed his head on his knee.

"My prince, you have awakened." He said, couldn't hold back his grin as he bowed and was absolutely delighted.

The figure reappeared by the book case, once more. "Rise." The figure said, looking over at Adonis.

Adonis stood slowly. "Nephew." He said proudly.

The shadow let out a soft chuckle. "Hello Uncle."

Adonis walked over to the figure. "Before I fall through you trying to hug you, is it even possible to do so?"

"Yes." The Figure said pulling his Uncle into a tight hug.

Adonis hugged him back just as tight before stepping back.

"What woke you? And why send your shadow? You can break the chains now that your awake."

"She touched me..." He whispered, looking away.

"What?" Adonis asked, with a befuddled look upon his face.

"She touched me, Uncle, in her dreams. Her shadow seeks me out, finds me but has never touched me. I don't know what changed but, last night, she touched me and all of me awoke. I want my life back, Uncle, I want her back. I want this Kingdom to pay for what they did. I want to keep my promise." The Figure said growling softly.

Adonis purred at the thought of revenge. "Tell me what to do my Prince."

"I think we should go back to the ballroom," Her grandmother  giggled, dropping the glass at hand and nearly falling over, grabbing Jas for support.

"Whooopsyyyy!" The older woman cried out before her and Jasannah howled with laughter.

They stumbled back into the throne room, giggling like children, held onto each other for support.

"What's so funny?" A stern female voice asked.

Their giggles came to an abrupt halt and they stood straight up. The Queen approached them a small frown on her face.

"Oh nothing." Her grandmother said, with a shrug.

The Queen stepped closer and sniffed the air around them. Her nose wrinkled, in disgust, and strong alcohol smell oozed off of them.

"You're both drunk."
