The Night Awaits

Chapter 13 (Hide and Seek)

"Demon child!" Nashira shouted. Two undead little girls came bashing in the lounge and everyone else begins hiding.

Nadhira's Confessional: Oh my lord. The little girls had rotten body, blood crying eyes, and voice reminiscent of those haunted dolls.

Rafa hid behind a small pillar and when he thought the coast is clear, he looked up and there was the little girl just sticking upside down. The girl jumped but misses him. The hide and seek game went for quite some time but the girls grew tired and decided to rest. "Jesus, that was scary." Nadhira panted. "Take a look at the map," Gazel commanded. The map revealed a new zone called "The Twin's Lair."

Nashira's Confessional: I already don't like the place's name.

"The little twins are probably resting there. Is it a good idea to go there?" Keiona asked. "Well, unless we find another clue around here then yes," Rafa answered. They went outside to the town and was a shock when they saw a new place that isn't on the map. "Look! There's a new place." Keiona pointed. They were scared that the twins in sleeping in the Twin's Lair so they went to the new place. Mirror Mystery Maze is what it's called. "Wow, these mirrors are tripping me," Rafa said. Out of nowhere, they hear Nadhira scream from afar. It turns out the twins are in the maze with them. It makes it scarier for them because the lights were flickering and the twins are just standing there in the reflection of the mirror. "If the mirror is distracting you, just look at the floor! The entrance is locked and we must find a key somewhere here to open it." Keiona yelled. Everyone began panicking and running all over the place. "I found the key! Gather at the entrance!" she yelled again. Rafa, Nashira, and Nadhira met her in the entrance yet Gazel was nowhere to be found. "I'm stuck!" Gazel shouted. "Fuck it, shatter the mirrors with your fist!" Nashira yelled back. The sounds of mirror shattering echoed in the room and Gazel was seen exiting the maze. His hands were bruised and bleeding from breaking all the mirrors. "Are you okay?" Keiona asked as she tried to stop his bleeding. Then, she tore part of her dress to use as a bandage while her glove ties it.

"While we were all screaming and running, I found this scroll and a necklace with a broken heart pendant." Rafa showed others the items. "The twins were separated at birth but death gathers them once more. Ever since their reunion, the city lost all of their power electricity, hence the flickering lights. To break their curse, you must bind and cleanse the necklace with the Ruby gem." he read. "That necklace looks like those necklaces I would buy for my friends and can be combined with magnets," Nadhira remembered. "That's it! We must find that other missing piece!" Gazel exclaimed. Then, they slowly walked to the Twin's Lair and it was pitch black there. Keiona used the necklace to reflect some light to brighten the room so they have some sort of visibility. "I can't find it," Nashira whispered. 2 pairs of red eyes glowed in the dark and that's a sign that the twins are now awake. They scampered out as the twins chased them to the lounge. Keiona wanted to prove herself useful so she stayed in the lair, waiting for the twins to be gone.

Rafa's Confessional: So, Keiona is gone.

The Heiress tried to find the power button around the lair but couldn't find any. She realized that there were 3 mirrors strategically structured in the room. The moonlight shined through the small window and her job was to make the light reflect through the mirror 3 times. It took a while to perfect it but in the end, she did it. The lights started to flicker and that was her cue to begin the search. Although she couldn't find the other pendant necklace, she did find 5 scrolls in a chest. She saw the twins coming back to the lair so she broke the window and went out from there.

Keiona's Confessional: Honey, you can call me Dora the Explora anytime.

"We lost Keiona." Rafa panted. "She'll be back, I know it." Nadhira comforted him. Gazel noticed that the twins had left something in the hallway so he took it with full caution. "They gain their might on the brightest night, for they fear of the bright light. Each exhibit has a secret power operation that can cause the electricity to come back. When all given 5 exhibits powers are operated, the whole museum's light will light up." he read the scroll. "If we stay in a bright place, they can't catch us. The problem is, all the lights are off so there's no safe zone." Nashira explained. Then, they hear Keiona running into the lounge as everyone cheered for her return. "I thought you were dead!" Rafa excitingly hugged her. "You wish! I also found 5 scrolls" she said while giving each one member a scroll. "The Egyptian Exhibit has electricity controlled by the legend's enchantment. The tome has the enchantment to break the curse." Gazel read his clue. They took a turn reading their scroll and went to their given exhibits.
