Chapter 5

Echo POV

As we were riding I saw a wagon in front of us. It was more like a cage and.. are those kids?!

"Kuro! Stop that wagon." I order as he runs ahead of it and stopping blocking it's path as I glare at the man who had the rains in his hand.

"Huh? Get out of my way." He says.

"Echo? What's wrong?" Hana asks.

"Subaru, Kaito, why don't you have some fun with this man." I say causing the two to happily jump out of the wagon.

"Finally some action!" Kaito says as I got down walking to the back of the wagon opening the cage like thing.

"Demi-humans?" I ask as they looked at me with tears in their eyes. 3 were boys and there was a girl as well.

"I'm afraid most Demi-humans are used as slaves in this country." Hana says making me frown and keel in front of the four kids.

"Well I was looking for some extra members but kids?" I sigh.

"It's said that Demi-humans only grow when leveled up. We could help them on that." Mika says smiling and petting the girl with white hair and red stripes on her cheeks.

"Hm, what are your names?" I ask as Kaito dragged the knocked out man toward us.

"I'm Ichiro, and these are Miwa, Riku, and Haruto." The kid with the black hair and golden eyes said.

"Ok, Ichiro, Miwa, Riku, Haruto, I'm Echo, the chain hero. Do you have a family you want to go back to?" I ask as Haruto suddenly hugged me.

"Could we stay with you Lady Echo?" He asked as Miwa hugged Ichiro's side and Riko hid behind him. So I guess he was sort of like their leader.

"I'm sorry, it's just we're all childhood friends and we lost our families during the first wave." Ichiro explains as I pet Haruto.

"If you wish to stay with me I have no objection, that being said I will put you to work and level up quickly with me and the others. Still I'll give you food and won't treat you badly. We can become your new family." I say looking at him.

"Really?" Miwa asks making me smile.

"Of course. We're on our way to a monster quest. You can come with us." I say as Kuro steps next to me in his new cloth. (Pic up top)

"You can't hold Lady Echo back though! The wave is in two weeks so you'll have to work extra hard if you wanna help us." He says making me chuckle.

"I wouldn't say it like that but he's right. The wave is right around the corner and having you ready would be a big help." I say.

"We'll do anything you want then." Ichiro says making me smile.

"Good, now hop in. Kaito, Subaru throw that man down the cliff along with that cell wagon. I'd steal it but it's disgusting." I say as they both happily did as told.

"What about the horses?" Asked Kuro.

"They'll pull our wagon for now until we get another one. Now let's go." I say putting the rains on the new horses and they started moving the wagon.

"Well it's time. I'll be taking Haruto with me on Kuro. The rest of you can take care of this village right?" I ask as they all nodded. We had been fighting monsters in this village for a minute and now it was time for me to go fight the main monster with the others.

"You can count on us Lady Echo." Ichiro says knocking out one of the monsters and I nodded. These 4 leveled up rather quickly and were now all grown up which was crazy.

"Alright, I'll be back after the wave." I say getting on Kuro with Haruto behind me. Turns out Kuro was now sort of like a dragon hour glass, he knew when and where the waves would happen which helped a lot.

"Bye Lady Echo!" Said Miwa making me smile and wave at her as Kuro took off.

"We'll be there in a few minutes." He says as he flew full speed and I nodded.

"Alright." I say and as he said in a few minutes we saw a huge boat with a monster under it flying.

"Naofumi!" I yell as Kuro landed on the ship turning back to his human form. I quickly went to Naofumi but Kuro and Haruto pulled me back.

"He's lost control Lady Echo." Haruto says but I pull away from them.

"He won't hurt me." I say before going towards Naofumi placing my hand on his shoulder feeling the burning a little.

"Snap out of it! I need you to help me Naofumi!" I yell just loud enough for him to hear me before he suddenly looked down at me, his green eyes back making me sigh in relief.

"Echo, you're here." He says making me chuckle before looking at the soul eater.

"Wow it's pretty big." I say but suddenly he used his shield to trap it and called an iron maiden killing the soul eater.

"Wow.." I say looking at him before smiling.

"And here I thought I had to do all the work." I say smirking feeling another one.

"Chain prison!" I say extending my hand towards the soul eater and a chain wrapped around it.

"Spikes." I mumble as spikes suddenly appeared on the chains and just as I was about to give it the final blow an attack came out of nowhere killing it.

"How very disappointing." A woman's voice was heard before someone landed in front of us.. it was a woman with long black hair and two fans in her hands.

"You actually have trouble with weaklings like these? Are you really the heroes holding the worlds fate in their hands? There's only two here worthy of being called heroes." She says stepping towards me and Naofumi.

"And what are your names?" She asked looking at us.

"How about you introduce yourself before asking someone's name." Naofumi said.

"Oh parten me, what ever happen to my manners? I am called glass and that is all you need to know for now. Feel free to consider me your enemy." She says.

"I'm Naofumi, and this is Echo." Naofumi says.

"Naofumi, Echo, well well, then may I suggest we begin the only battle of this wave worthy of the name?" She says as Naofumi and I look at each other.
