CHAPTER THIRTEEN
"Cameron... I'll be okay." I say tearing up myself.
"Cash how did you even get it?" Cameron asks trying hard not to cry.
"I believe I'm the one to blame for this." Cameron turns around confused and angry as I look up to see the plastic surgeon/ scientist. "I'm sorry dear. I should've told you all the risks and possible illnesses that came with that long term make up." Doc apologizes not daring to leave the doorway under Cameron's glare.
"You mean you're the one who gave my sister this death wish!" Cameron yells standing up forcing the chair back with a loud screech, fists closed shut, jaw clenched.
"Cameron, it's not his fault. He gave me a list with every risk there was and I ignored it." I grab his hand as a tear slips from my eyes.
"Why? You knew and still went along with it?!" His voice starts crack as he asks the question that I don't have the answer to.
"I had to hide and I needed a new face to keep you and mom and Sierra safe. I wasn't thinking or caring about what might've happened... I'm sorry." That's the best answer I could give.
The three of us talk for about an hour, Doc explaining how he used pure radiation for the makeup not to wear off. If he didn't use the radiation then I would've had to come back daily and not been able to live alone, also that the cartel would've gotten to me as well. Doc went and I went into more detail about how I got caught up in training. Basically the Government was impressed with my skills and told Wolf I had two options. '1) go to jail for my crimes along with Dave and still have us confess all we know. We could have been killed by cartel already in jail who have connections too. Or 2) you change your looks completely and both you and Dave with his family go into Witness protection. The only thing is you have to "die" and lose all connections with your family. And you'll do classes which you can learn more of when you get there the first day.'
I didn't know I was going to be a spy in the end, but I had no choice but to stick it through. I couldn't let Opal grow up without a father, and I couldn't put anyone in danger for my stupid mistake. I was being selfish so this is my punishment for pushing everyone away. Hurting some many people because of thinking it was the right thing to when really it was only putting them in even more danger. By now Doc had left, and Cameron was asking me questions about the how it was like before it got to the dangerous point. I would answer them until I remembered I hadn't told anyone yet. Mom, Sierra, nor Allyza and Hailie, or even Bali, Pres, and Emma. We talked about how we tell them but couldn't really find a way to sugar coat it. So we just called everyone, told them to come up to room 539, saying we'll explain when they get here. Bali, Emma, and Presley were the first to come since they kind of used some sort of hover mobile. Then mom with Hailie and Allyza, then lastly Sierra.
"Okay so since everyone is here now..." I didn't want to tell them so I paused dragging the sentence on to nothing.
"Please dear lord tell me you aren't pregnant!" My mom begged. Ha, if only she knew she'd be pleading me to have a baby.
"Funny you should say that," Cameron starts, "okay maybe definitely not funny..." He trails off lookin to me.
"Huh... I'm not gonna be pregenant mom, ever, now."
"What do you mean Cash?" Sierra asks
"I have ovarian cancer. They need to remove as much of my reproductive system as they can so it can't spread." My mom bursted into tears falling into Sierras arms at the start of the word 'cancer'. Everyone else was shocked and had teary eyes.
"Not my baby..." Mom whispered then screamed, "NOT MY BABY!" At the top of her lungs, again, and again, and again to the ceiling.
"Mom I'm gonna be better. Just see, after one surgery I'll be cured!" I tried sounding happy through my teary eyes.
