The next day EVERYONE was talking about Hannah's "Spooky September fling" thing. Well Everyone except Bucket and Renee because...you know, they're Bucket and Renee. As I was walking to English class Jake stopped me in the hallway and started actually talking to me as if I WASNT the grand outcast of Silver Valle High.

As we carried on an odd conversation I realized he looked kind of nervous, he kept looking over his shoulder as if someone was coming for him or as if like he was doing something he shouldn't have been and he was talking suspiciously fast.. That's when I realized his eyes looked more grayish pale instead of hazel, but I could have just been hallucinating. Or delusional. Anyway, every time he talked and started a new sentence he would accidentally stutter or stammer something so under-his-breath to a point where I couldn't understand him. Then outta the blue he just ran like his life was on the line. But that's when I realized he wasn't being CHASED he was CHASING and who was he chasing you may ask? It was Spencer for who knows what reason. It looked as if they were small elementary children playing a surprisingly violent round of tag.

After school I had gone home to find my mom lying on the ground crying, clutching a newspaper. Her stringy dirty-blonde hair glued to her face due to the tears. I grabbed the paper out of her grasp and began to read the headline which said the one thing that could've made even Lucifer drop and mentally break down. My mother flopped on the couch sobbing and I ran into my room and fell to my knees. I couldn't take it. I mean, my brother is missing from the army, what else would I do? Just walk it off?
