Well, each time I tried the library, nothing seemed to lead me back to any clue to the name. After I tried to search nothing came up. I started to think, {and I can't believe I did} If I could ask Hannah about it. Since her grandfather IS the "founder" of the town {even though no one believes that}
"Hey um, Hannah, it's Emerald if you were wondering...I um wanted to know if you knew.."
Right as I was preparing to suck in my gut and type that last sentence, my phone had joined the deceased. It looked as if on Monday I was just gonna have to talk to Hannah at school {one of my worst nightmares}. There's was a stiff, government-authority-like knock at the door. The person knocked on the door loudly as if what they were going to say was important, so, having said that, I opened the door and there stood...no one, in fact, the only thing there was an envelope with a wax monogram designed to look as if it could have been blood. I opened it and it was an invitation to Hannah's fling that read:
"Hey, freaks and geeks you're invited to my Spooky September fling!!!
What to wear:
A costume
Makeup\special effects {optional}
What to bring:
Your phone
A friend
Confidence
a handful of kindness
And lastly a smile!
I hope to see all you there!!!"
Ok that had to have been the cheesiest thing I had seen in my whole life....and just last week I had to go see the Chuck E Cheese band for my little cousins birthday and my incompetent mother made me sing along....so you probably know how that went. But as I was wondering why the invitation was soooo "Nice" I saw the fine print at the bottom that said "OH and feel free to bring extra food you fat pigs" Yep, that sounded like the Hannah I know. The Hannah everyone knows.
Anyway afterward I threw the envelope into our big pile of "junk mail" on the corner of our kitchen-top island. Then my mom found it and asked "why don't you want to go? It's a good chance to...Nevermind but still" I tried to explain it's just a dumb high school sorority and a chance for snobby girls to meet cute guys yet she "insisted" that I go, so Ruby, it looked like it was your lucky day! Although I still needed a dress...darn it.
