Ghost Town||ONGOING

Chapter 8

Once I was inside I tried to find anything suspicious in my mom's car. I looked into some of the classic go-to hiding places, glove compartment, change compartment, and so on so forth. But yet somehow (suspiciously and surprisingly) everything was empty and spotless. Almost as if she knew someone or even something was coming to look.

Ok, I thought maybe I'm just overreacting. I said, stupidly. As my curiosity got the best of me, and I began to wonder if something was going on with my mother, I then realized, my mom left her phone in the car. The most probable reason is that she expected to have only stayed at this ritual-like event for a short period of time.

The only reason I was able to discover her phone was that it strangely (and loudly, may I note) buzzed. Once my gaze dropped to look at the phone, I noticed that it was from the lunch lady at my high school. Which was pretty odd considering the fact that my mother is the mayor. Although this town isn't as big as your average city, it's still pretty odd that my mother only messages that one lunch lady. In this town, we have two middle schools, three elementary's and two high schools yet my mom only wanted to text that one cafeteria worker from my school. Ok, enough chit-chat. Point is, it was strange. What was even more strange was that she said:

"Don't worry, she won't find out a thing."

Which, already having paranoia practically 7 days a week and 24 hours a day, I got nervous about that sentence real quick... I started scrolling through the text's between one another when the sound of a gunshot rang in my ears as everything faded into a black sea. Even though my vision was nothing but completely lost, I could still hear the screaming and crying voices of the people on the outside of the thin metal door.
