Austin was sitting on my couch. How weird is that. It was quite amusing how he was trying to situate himself on the edge of the plush couch so he didn't fall in.
I realized that I was staring so I ran into the kitchen and grabbed 2 cans of Dr.Pepper and a few cupcakes that were sitting on the counter.
I walked into the living room and awkwardly sat on the chair placed next to the couch.
I handed him the soda and placed the cupcake onto the coffee table in front of him. "Thanks" He said his eyes only lifting from the floor for a brief second.
I set my food down onto the table and stood up. I shuffled my way over to the cabinet. I slowly pulled the drawer out and saw the untouched magazine article.
I lifted it out of the drawer and sat back down in my seat. I handed it to Austin and he greatfully accepted it.
He intently read the article and his face showed no emotion. This boy is hard to read! When he was finished reading the article he handed me the paper and let out a shaky breath he had clearly been holding in.
" I guess that is what I was looking for" he sighed
"I just thought that I would read the paper and hear the story and every thing would be okay that secretly my birth parents would be alive. I wanted to meet them I don't hold the fact that they gave me away against them but i don't understand why they didn't want to ever talk to me again. They still were my parents after all."
I sat in aww as he said this. I have known him for what a little less than a day and he is telling me his life's story. Why? I have no idea.
"I don't know what you are going through and what you are feeling but what I do know is that it had to be so hard for them to let you go. They must have felt that it was hard enough to say goodbye the first time they didn't want to relive their greatest mistake. Giving you up."
Okay so I will admit I didn't expect this conversation to end this way.
He just sat there. Not looking up. Not saying a word. It must have been something I said. Oh my gosh he probably thinks I am such a weirdo! "Thank you."He says quietly.
I look up at Austin. He peels his eyes off of the ground and looks at me." Well.... I guess I should go...." He stood up and walked to the door.
But what if I dont want him to go.
If I asked him to stay would that be weird. He still hasn't ate his food so I could use that as my excuse.
He slowly cranked the door handle and before I had the chance to come up with something to say I am already talking "You can stay if you want to. I mean you obviously don't have to if you don't want to you just havn't eaten you cupcake yet and it looks pretty dissapointed and I was thinking of watching a movie and you could watch it with me.. what am i thinking of corse you don't want to wathch a movie with me sorry dumb ques.."
" That sounds good to me" He cut me off with a grin on his face "Really?" I said stunned
"Just for the sake of the cupcake I mean. Like you said it looks pretty dissapointed" He smirked and my cheeks flushed red.
I guess I have a date with Austin.
