Yunlan was completely out of his mind, for the first time in his life he wasn’t prepared.

During the first hour, they had been told that they’ll have to do a little test the next day, and he couldn’t stop thinking about it.

Changing school and hanging out with friends had taken its toll, he really couldn’t see how in the world could he prepare himself in such a short period of time.

He didn’t want the guys to know, but he had no secrets for Hong. They were now walking to their next class and she tried her best to calm him down.

Yunlan: "How can I calm down? There is no fucking way I can do it."

"You can study alone in the library today, so you’ll be able to concentrate more," she told him, trying to help in some way.

He was so worried that he didn’t notice passing Shen Wei by the corridor.

Yunlan: "We were supposed to meet the guys this afternoon, I don’t want to explain why I can’t be there..."

He looked really miserable now.

Hong: "I’ll find an excuse for you... I can
tell them that you got a date, so they would understand you for not joining us."

Yunlan: "Yeah, that might work, and at least the library is usually quiet."

As soon as he could he went to the school library and buried his face in his books and notes.

A little far away, Shen Wei looked at him.

Yunlan’s mood was terrible today. He was tired after studying like crazy the day before, and as he imagined his test was a disaster anyway.

It wouldn’t have been for anyone else, but he cared about getting high grades, and a barely sufficient one was a disaster for him.

The guys were chatting as usual, but he didn’t feel like joining in the fun. Hong wanted to cheer him up but didn’t know how. Her test was probably worse than his, but she only worried about passing, she didn’t really care about getting high grades, she had no desire to go to university anyway.

Neither of them was really paying attention to what the guys were talking about until Jin said, “Is it true that some exam papers were stolen yesterday?”

Da Qing: "Someone tried to cheat?"

The guys laughed because he sounded more interested than shocked. Actually, it wasn’t the questions that got stolen, but the students’ papers before the teacher had time to correct them and mark the results, so an entire class will have to do the test again.

Yunlan looked positively outraged, the idea of having to do the same test twice wasn’t appealing in the least, until he thought that those students will have more time to study and suddenly he felt rather envious of them, and started paying attention to the conversation.

The culprit had not been found, and there was nothing the school could do but to make them redo the test.

Da Qing: "Is it so difficult to find out who took them?"

Sang: "I bet we could do it, we are smart and quite ingenious, we could be like the school c.s.i. squad."

Jin: "S for smart and i for ingenious, maybe s for squad? We could call
ourselves sis."

They all ignored him.

Da Qing: "Jin could find information on the computer while Yunlan, Sang and I can look for clues at the school."
