the one with a cuddle or two

When you opened your eyes that morning, you were shocked to find that Cameron was still in bed with you.

For the past week or so he'd been so busy that he had to wake up at the most ungodly hour of the morning. Every time his alarm would go off way too early, and each time he would shut it off with a groan only to roll over and slip his arms around your body, hugging you to his chest and tangling his legs with yours so he could cling to you like a koala. You grumbled and groaned and pretended to be more asleep than you were, but you secretly enjoyed that the first thing he did was to reach for you. Eventually he would get up and get his day started, always leaving a kiss on your lips before slipping out the front door.

You and Cameron had been dating for several months now; it had gotten to the point where you spent most nights (and days) at his place. You had your own drawer and everything. The both of you had gotten used to life together, and you missed him dearly when he was away, so the past week had been hard on the both of you. But you knew that he was doing something that was important to him, and you could never ask him to give that up in any capacity.

That morning when you woke up it was 10:00 a.m., and he was still there. It immediately brought a feeling of warmth to your heart, and you couldn't help but get your hopes up and look forward to having him for the entire day. It felt like it had been so long since you'd truly spent time together, other than small chit chat and a kiss here and there. You missed him.

You blinked groggily and rubbed the sleep away from your eyes with the heels of your palms before turning onto your side to get a proper look at him. His hair was now long enough again that it had begun to curl around his ears, and the top was decorated with unruly waves that had been tousled by sleep. He was laying on his stomach, his arms tucked underneath his pillow as his head was nestled on it comfortably, his features facing you. His lips were just slightly parted with his breathing, and there was a long lock of hair that drooped so it rested right atop of his nose. The sight made you want to laugh a little, but you stopped yourself out of fear of waking him.

Your lips unconsciously displayed a content smile as you reached to brush the pad of your thumb against his cheek; you did so with hesitance, as if you were touching the sky itself. Moments like this with Cameron were so rare nowadays that you were so afraid of disturbing it.

He didn't stir as you touched his face, completely asleep. You took that as a hint that it was safe to scooch closer, and you traced your fingertips down the length of his shoulder and to his back, drawing mindless patterns on the new canvas.

You eventually slipped your legs between his so that you could curl your toes against his calves, and you propped yourself up on your elbow to press a kiss against his shoulder. You were craving his attention, and he couldn't give it to you if he was sleeping. Your hand continued to draw circles and hearts on his back, and you grinned at the sound of his voice.

"Mm, your toes're cold," he spoke groggily, his voice muffled against his pillow as he turned to hide his features. You wiggled them further in response to his words, resting your hand at the small of his back as you pressed your lips to the back of his neck.

"Your legs are warm," you countered, nuzzling your face into his shoulder. He only hummed in response, still partly sleeping. You were beginning to question whether or not he dozed off again when you felt him move underneath you, and you suddenly found yourself wrapped around his arms, your face being tucked under his chin as he pressed light kisses to the top of your head.

You loved when he got in this mood. You two were one hundred percent comfortable together, to the point where you didn't even really need words; you could honestly spend forever in the arms of this man and never grow tired of the feeling. And that used to scare you, but it didn't anymore. Now it only gave you something to look forward to every day.
