a/n: hey everyone. I rewrote the second prologue due to technical difficulties so if you have the chance, please go and read that

_____________

"So he apologized?!" Lindi squeals.

I roll my eyes playfully. "Y-Yes."

"And what did you say?" she asks, wiggling her eyebrows.

I look down at my feet. "I didn't really say anything. I-I told him I had to leave, and that's what I did."

Her mouth falls open. "I-I left." I stutter out.

She grabs my shoulders and shakes me. "Are you out of your mind?! You've been moping around for two weeks and all because of Jai, and he finally apologizes and you just, you just leave?!"

I nod slowly, feeling ashamed. She must of sensed how bad I felt, so she calms down.

"Don't worry, Flo. Things will work out. I know it. I truly think you guys are like, soul mates." she says in a high pitched voice.

I giggle and roll my eyes playfully.

I can't help but to think,

I really do love Jai Collins.

____________

I'm awaken by the sound of my alarm, the song 'This Is Gospel' by Panic! At The Disco.

I sigh, and roll out of bed, and do my usual routine before I get dressed.

I put my hair in loose curls, and put my bangs in a side braid. I decide to wear dark skinny jeans, black high-top converse, and a oversized cream sweater.

My stomach does tiny flips as I walk downstairs, and out the door, remembering that the protest is soon. I really hope people come. I sent out flyers to all the people I know and posted them all over town and Facebook.

I'm really hoping to make a difference in this gloomy state.

As I enter the doors of the school, something feels completely different.

The aura. The vibe.

Usually the mood always seems gloomy and dark, but everyone seems almost.. Well,

happy.

My conclusions are confirmed when random people start coming up to me, smiling, or giving me a thumbs up.

"Hey, I'll definitely see you at the protest!" one girl says with a huge grin.

"It's a really good think you're doing, Floyd." another boy tells me.

I grin at all the compliments and encouragement I'm receiving, it's a very new feeling.

Something like this has never happened to me before.

The smile still lingers on my lips, as I walk through the halls, nearing my locker. I see a worried looking Lindi standing at my locker, waiting for me, and biting her nails nervously.

I furrow my eyebrows in confusion, and quickly walk up to her.

Her eyes lighten when she sees me, and she throws her arms around me. "Floyd, oh my god."

She pulls away, "Lindi, what happened?" I ask worriedly.

She looks around nervously, hesitantly trying to avoid my question. She says one word that makes my heart beat fast and a lump form in my throat.

"It's Jai."
