Today at work there was an art heist at the Gotham Museum of Arts. The man used a fake bomb to scare everyone away, stole one painting and graffitied two others. Then the same man planted a bomb in Union Railway Station. Luckily Jim saved the day by throwing it inside a statue before it exploded.
Right now I'm at the train station, working obviously. When I see Edward I go to join him."Hi Edward. I missed you this morning."
"Hello Rosabelle, I was actually running late this morning."
"Well I'm glad to see you. Can you believe this, the man performs an art heist where he leaves clues about the bomb he planted in the train station." Yeah weird isn't, not to mention the green question mark.
"Yes, very ingenious."
"Sure is unique."
We then spot Jim and go speak to him. Well I wouldn't speak much, things a little weird between us. We've been speaking much less. So I mostly stood behind Edward so he wouldn't notice me.
"Detective Gordon."
"We've been working together for over a year, Ed. You can call me Jim."
"Jim. Heard you were able to save the day."
"I got lucky."
"I don't believe in luck. You saw a problem and you solved it. Bravo."
"Hey, I want you and Rosa to oversee forensics on this one. Maybe our luck will hold and we'll get something on the bomb signature or trace elements."
"No other leads yet?"
"No. I have no idea what this guy wants or what he's after, which makes him dangerous."
"Oh, don't you worry. I'm on the case."
"Right."
Then my as he walks away my luck goes away. Jim pulls me aside.
"Okay, tell me why you're avoiding me?"
"I'm not avoiding you, it's not my fault you didn't notice me."
"And what about yesterday?"
Right, yesterday, also known as the day Queenie left, I may have spotted Jim in the hallway and turned the other way. Then later on I saw him again and I rushed to the bathroom.
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"Just tell me what I did for you to start avoiding me."
"Look, you didn't do anything. Things have just been odd, Lee trying to hook me up with Harvey Dent being one of them. But it's nothing you did."
"Wait can you go back to the Harvey Dent part."
"Long story-short, Dent asked me out and it turned out that Lee is the one who gave him my number." And just like that the overprotective brother comes out.
"What did you say?"
"Jesus, Jim calm down. No need to bring out the overprotective brother."
"I'm not being overprotective. I want you to be happy and if you like Dent then I'm fine with that. So, are you?"
"He's a good guy, but no, not really." He didn't even try to hide his sigh in relief. "I still don't see how my love life is more important than work. I promise I'll stop avoiding you, but you have to go back to work, criminals won't arrest themselves young man."
"I'm older than you."
"But I'm smarter." I say I rush him away.
Later on in the day I had lunch with Jim. During lunch he confessed to me that they're reopening the investigation into Galavan's murder. Jim already knew I knew he killed Galavan. Apparently an eye-witness came forward. I offered him as much comfort as I could, I wish I could've done more.
It was late at night, I was still at work.
I have a feeling Edward is keeping something from me. I've actually been getting this feeling for a while but with everything that had been going on I paid it no mind. Though now that everything is over this feeling has been bothering me more.Something is up. He's lying to you. Don't be stupid. Don't trust him.
I can't make her shut up. And the more she talks the more I start thinking that she's somewhat right. Hence, the best thing to do is ask him, be straightforward.
I went to look for him, which I'll admit kinda took a bit of time. Though the important thing is that I was able to find him.I can do this. It's probably nothing, I'm just being paranoid. I trust Edward, he's my friend. Okay, here it goes.
"Edward, do you mind if I ask you a question?"
"Of course not Rosabelle, what do you need me to answer?"
"Are you hiding something from me? I just feel that you're keeping something from me. Which if you are, you can tell me."
But before he could answer I heard a bit of a commotion going on. When I went to see what was happening I found being taken away in handcuffs. I raced down the stairs but I didn't catch him in time.
"Jim! Harvey what's going on? Where are they taking him?"
"Someone framed him, he's being arrested for Pinkney's murder. Don't worry Rose, he's going to be fine, he'll get through this."
God I sure hope he does. Just when things were starting to get back to normal. Sadly it seemed luck wasn't on our side.
During the last four weeks I have been by Lee's side almost twenty-four/seven. It has been really stressful. Alex tries to comfort me at time but luckily since she's off finding Oswald I don't have to deal with her anymore. But the trial is now over, Jim was found guilty of the murder of Pinkney and Galavan, forty years in Blackgate Penitentiary. Lee and I went to see him before he was transferred. I saw him first, I wasn't going to take long so they could spend more time together.
"Jim, everything is going to be okay. You'll get through this, you always do."
"Rosa-"
"No don't you give me your hopeless, surrendering bs. I've known you for a long time and I know that everytime you fall you'll always get back up. And during any of those times I'll always be here for you."
"Thank you, but I can't ask that of you."
"You don't have to, you're my family. I should go, you and Lee need to talk. But don't worry, I'll make sure Lee is alright."
I walk out and wipe my tears I had been holding in. Who knew saying goodbye to someone who's practically your brother before he's thrown in jail would make you want to cry so much. I was really trying to hold it together, so I could be there for Lee and Jim. God keeping your feelings together is really difficult.
After visiting Jim, Lee told me she'd like to be alone for tonight. I didn't want to bother right now, it must be so much harder for her.
I'm driving through the city, unsure of where I'm staying tonight. I didn't want to go to the house, all those reminders, I wouldn't be able to handle it. I could always go to my apartment, but each time I stay there I feel weird, I don't know why. I don't where to go. I don't want to be left alone with my thoughts tonight. I don't want to be alone.
I'm pretty sure that thought is what drove me here, to his place. I knock three times. Half of me hoping he wouldn't answer, the other half pleading him to. He did. The moment I saw his face I regret coming here. I diverted my eyes to the floor, too flustered to look at him in the eye."I didn't want to alone. I didn't know where else to go. I'm sorry this was stupid, I shouldn't have come here." Before I could scurry away in my embarrassment he stops me.
"You don't have to go. You can stay here if you want."
"Really? I wouldn't want to intrude."
"You wouldn't, I'd be delighted for you to stay over."
"Thank you, Edward", I pull him into a hug "What would I do without you?"
A/N- probably won't write much after this I have a lot of school work to catch up with, which I'll probably still won't do it, but im gonna try to not make me writing an excuse anymore(probably still will) I'm just so exited about the next chapters.
